Last November my fiance and I received a phone call from a very nice man named Charlie, from Seminole Boat Sales, explaining he had seen my add in an advertisement for my boat. Charlie explained that he had a consignment boat lot in Seminole and that he had a lot of traffic and just sold 12 boats to a gentleman overseas. This really seemed like the perfect solution to my problem. I had 2 boats, one I was bringing in to the marriage and my fiance' had one also. We had to sell one and sell it fast.

We went in to talk to Charlie, in person. He seemed very pleasant and very knowledgeable about my boat. He made me feel comfortable, not to worry, the boat would be safe. It stays locked up. They didn't have any crime on their lot. They would really try to sell it for me. They were close to the lake to show it, in the water. He explained the contract to me and went over its entirety. He explained that it was for 6 months and after 6 months, we could come pick it up, if they didn't sell it.

I remember trying to read all of this, in the contract. And I remember Charlie distracting me through the whole thing. I signed the contract and we paid a monthly fee along with a cleaning fee at the time of signing.

Charlie offered to call me with an estimate for detailing my boat. I never received a phone call, but I did receive a $400.00 bill. I immediately called and spoke to Bryce. Bryce informed me that this was a bill for the detailing and for the month of December. Seeing how I was getting married that week, I didn't feel like arguing and figured there may have been some miscommunication on my part. Because, I didn't remember telling them it was okay to detail the boat. But, at the same time, I was planning a huge wedding for 150 guests and I thought maybe I had made a mistake.

Five months went by. It was March. Seminole Boat Sales had received prompt payments from me every month. I felt it was time to get the boat back and try selling it through a different source.

My Now Husband and I always took the boat out with our friends for my birthday, that was coming up in April. We figured we could get the boat back earlier than 6 months and pay them the rest of the contract, that I never received, I may add.

Bryce was there. Very pleasant as usual. A little too pleasant, but now we knew why. We told him it was going to be 6 months soon, and we wanted our boat back earlier. And that we would pay for the last month of the contract in advance. Bryce had no idea what we were talking about and pulled out our contract, that I still never received a copy of. It had my signature on it, but it said that after 60 days we could cancel the contract with a 30-day "written" notice or pay $500.00.

Surprise!!!! This is completely different from the original contract and agreement.

We explained how we could write a notice and pay for the entire month in advance, if we could have our boat back for April. They refused. Bryce spoke to us like we were idiots. He then began to tell us ( after the boat sat there for 5 months) that our price was too high and nobody had inquired about it. We received NOT one phone call from Charlie or Bryce telling us this status. As Charlie promised to keep us updated.

Knowing that no one inquired we responded with the offer again. His bottom line was that we needed to keep it there for 30-days or pay the $500.00. I politely asked him why 30-days and not 27-days (when we needed the boat). Bryce explained to us that "Psychologically, it takes 30-days for someone to make a decision to buy a boat". HMMMM.

Remember when I wrote about the December incident and the monthly bill along with the detailing bill?? Bryce told me that the monthly charges WERE NOT included in that bill and that I needed to still pay for December.

Please note, that I have never received any past due notice from them the entire time, telling me that I owed them for December fees.

My husband and I were beside ourselves by the unprofessionalism Bryce displayed and decided to do what they wanted. We were worried something might happen to the boat at this point. My husband wrote out a 30-day notice, and we got a copy. Imagine that. And Bryce finally gave me a copy of the agreement. I wasn't leaving until I got it this time.

30 DAYS LATER. My husband showed up to pick up our boat. He called in advanced. Of course, Charlie was extremely rude and told my husband that he may not be there and he wouldn't know when he would actually be there for my husband to pick up the boat.

My husband went the next day anyway. Charlie met him outside as he attempted to hook-up the boat to his trailer hitch. My husband then discovered that the trailer hitch had been disassembled. COMPLETELY. He showed Charlie and Charlie said that the brakes locked up and they had to take the hitch apart to get it off of their truck when they were moving it.

Charlie got extremely abusive verbally with my husband and my husband told him to get his mechanic and have it fixed by the next day.

We never received any notice that there was a problem with the trailer. Which leads me to believe that they disassembled it because they thought we may take it without them knowing. I am pretty sure they realized they were being completely rude to us and got worried. This probably goes on all the time with them. But they tampered with our property. $30,000.00 worth of property.

The next day came and I called Charlie. I asked him in a very polite manner if his mechanic had come to fix the trailer so we could get our boat back. Charlie immediately started screaming at me on the phone about how I didn't know what I was talking about and that he would fix it when he deemed fit. I told him I didn't want to have to get my lawyer involved. And, that I didn't appreciate his tone with me. I didn't deserve to be talked to in that manner. Charlie yelled into the phone that he wouldn't have it fixed until he heard from my lawyer.

Charlie hung up on me and I immediately called my lawyer.

By 9am, the next day, my lawyer had written a letter to Charlie explaining how he needed to have the trailer hitch fixed. The letter was emailed, faxed and sent by mail.

By noon, my husband finally got our boat back. YEY.

However, cup holders were missing, the light post was missing, the "Crownline" emblems from the chairs were missing. And we had to have the hitch looked at, as well as the brakes on the trailer. The boat had not been cleaned. They probably only sprayed the outside. The seats were all mildewed and there were leaves, and dirt in every compartment.

Many Huge Thanks to Seminole Boat Sales, and Charlie for their lovely hospitality and attempt in keeping our boat from us (sarcasm). I guess they figured that if we couldn't move it, they could charge us some more.

DO NOT USE THIS SEMINOLE BOAT SALES, INC! Charlie is so difficult and I should have called the police to have him arrested for the things he said to me. Charlie and Bryce are scam artists. I would love to see their record of sales. I am betting that they run their business by just charging people to keep their boats there. They should be put out of business.

One more thing.... The night we got our boat back. At about 5pm. We received another bill due for the next month. I immediately forwarded this to my attorney and I haven't heard from them since.
