On 10/18/08 I was pumping gas at the Shell gas station on Haywood Lane. I had a little over 1/4 of a tank of gas and figured that I would put about $20 in my tank which would take me close to a full tank. While pumping, my 4-yr old son needed to go to the bathroom, so I didn't think any thing of it when I locked the hose to continue pumping. I figured it would only be a few more dollars any way. I go inside to ask the attendant where the restroom is and he directs me out back. I run my son to the restroom where it is so disgusting that we both are gagging and decide not to use it.

As we are walking back toward the car, I notice that gas is flowing under my car. I actually hear the splattering, but have no idea what's going on until I see the gas pouring out of the spout. I rush my son to the car and proceed to get to the pump. By the time it's all said and done, I owe $32.63.

I tell the attendant what has happened and he takes a plastic bag, walks outside and places it on the hose I just used. I asked about a refund of my money and he told me that I had to talk to Bobby the owner. He gave me the number to the store and told me that "Bobby would be in Monday morning". I have called everyday and had to leave messages for Bobby. It's been a week, and I haven't heard from Bobby apparently he's too busy to return his calls. I pass by there everyday and as of yesterday, the plastic bag is still on the pump. I took the liberty to take a few pictures of the pump the other day, which by the way is still showing my $32.63.

Not the gas station's fault

Faulty equipment happens. it's a fact. You should not expect a refund on the gasoline. There is a reason there are signs plastered all over gas stations that say "do not leave vehicle unattended while fueling."
