This company fabricates the total amount of hours worked and adds additional materials when they see fit and will just charge the consumer.

It should have never taken three (3) men 9 hours to move the amount of boxes I had up two flights of stairs.  In addition, there was NO need to repack my dress clothes that were already placed in garment bags and then charge me for putting them in boxes.

They will pack all of your belongs onto a truck and then give you the total amount due. Leaving the consumer in a jam. If you refuse or disagree with the price charged they will not unload your belongings.......

With respect to the charge of $385.00 for carrying the boxes up stairs and the $42.00 fee for OTHER charges. I believe it is the law that you must disclosure what OTHER fees are. These fees were never disclosed and I view that as a hidden charge.  As you know in New Jersey,  hidden charges are misleading advertising, in addition to the unfair and deceptive practices act, which applies to all consumer transactions, New Jersey Transportation Law makes it unlawful for a "common carrier of household goods," i.e. a moving company, to claim "unjust and unreasonable" charges. YOU are required by law to provide full disclosure of all charges up-front, including any travel time, packing fees, and similar charges.

Your report is lacking a few key details.

You didn't mention how many boxes you had, and if that included furniture.  There is a big difference between a Studio Apt and a 4 Bedroom House.

Was the 9 hours the total time, that is including loading and unloading the truck?  How far was your move?

What was the $385?  Was it the total cost of the move?  Was it the extra amount over the original estimate?  If it was extra what was the original estimate?

Did you ask what the $42 OTHER charge was?

Keep in mind I am not saying that something is not wrong, but when you leave out details it is hard to see any possible RipOff.
