The 1st two weeks I worked at Shoney's Restaurant they had new hire orientation held at the location I worked at, and all the corporate managers were there. Sometime during orientation the manager from my location handed out paychecks to all employees except me. So I went directly to that manager and asked why didn't I get a check. She told me my check hadn't been processed yet, and I had to wait another week. So I thought that sounded fishy so I went over to talk to one of the corporate managers to verify her answer.  Well, the corporate manager looked puzzled, asked who told me that and we both walked over to my ex- manager's table. He asked her to look through her stack of folders for my check. She hesitated while giving me an ugly look.  But when she opened the folder there was my check sitting right on top of her papers.

Later on that same day, that same corporate manager was showing all the employees how to login and out of their account to update info., etc. When my turn came around, he asked me what my title was, I replied "Hostess" but when he pulled up my account, he said "that can't be right" he said I was being paid a servers wages instead of a hostess, which was about $3.00 less per hour than my regular salary. Meaning since the day I was hired I was only being paid $6.00/hour instead of $9.00/hour! The manager from my location was suppose to correct it but never did.  On top of that, I was constantly being harrassed by that same mgr. who refused to give me my paycheck.

So I had to file a lawsuit, and was contacted by EEOC who took over the case since I couldn't afford a lawyer.  Never went to trial due to no witnesses. Most of my co-workers admitted to being aware of how I was being mistreated, but they were all afraid of losing their job if they testified.  Also, months later I slipped and fell and hurt my leg on the job and managers would not let me go to the doctor until after my shift was over.(7am-6pm) And told me "if I you leave without permission you will be fired!" So I had to limp around, seating customers, carrying trays, carrying high chairs for customers with children, etc. in pain all day long with no breaks.-Isn't it illegal for a company to force you to work more than 4 hours during your shift without a break?

So I would advise anyone who is thinking about working at this Shoney's in Columbus, GA., do yourself a favor and find a job somewhere else!
