My small business was scammed out of $30,000 each!

We were contacted by Shop America Network (SAN) via e-mail in early January in regards to our new product for the window industry the Safety Wash System.

They proposed to us that the Safety Wash System would be a desirable item to place in one of there infomercials. They asked us to give them $15,900.00 to cover the production costs to make the commercial. SAN would in turn invest up to $200,000.00 to place the commercial on broadcast TV, cable and satellite service during the test market period.

SAN told us that anyone with a satellite service would be able to see it all over the country. They also provided a list of cable companies they will use to show the commercial. Which we are now finding out was all false. The only place the commercial has been aired on is a low powered antenna that even local cable companies do not carry. This factor was never revealed to us at any time. If we had been informed of this matter we would not have given them the money they asked for. This practice of telling a perspective client one thing and delivering another when all is said and done is a breach of contract and should be punishable by law. SAN is an underhanded dirty little outfit that scams small businesses out of there hard earned money and never delivers on their end of the deal.

After we furnished SAN the money they asked for, we then drove our display down to Florida for the video shoot, this cost us another $2,500.00 that we really could not afford. We also delayed going to a window industry convention because we felt this would be a great opportunity. How wrong we were!!! In preparation for the air date of our commercial on April 11th we provided SAN with phone center training information so the people taking the orders would be able to do so properly.

Somehow this information never seemed to arrive to the proper people even after we e-mailed it to them several times. We also opened an account with UPS and installed UPS shipping software. We then purchased all the materials necessary to fulfill the orders we were expecting to receive. This totaled approximately $50,000.00. This entire inventory is now sitting in our assemblers warehouse doing nothing. This brings up another factor, we hired a company to assemble our product who in turn re-hired old employees to do the manufacturing. Now these people do not have jobs all because of the fraud portrayed by SAN.

Once we found out about this scam we called SAN and told them we want to see the receipts for the monies they paid out to the broadcasters they use. We still have not received any type of information on that. SAN then had the nerve to send us an addendum saying if we provide them with another $1,000.00 they will match it and put us on a cable channel somewhere. What happened to the $200,000.00 they were supposed to provide for the test market research and airing costs.
