About a month ago I ordered my annual free credit report from annualcreditreport.com (you get one free a year, no strings attached) and I disputed some charges on my report. They eneded up putting a Fraud Alert on my profile for a total of a month and a half, and all that means is that in that time frame if anyone tried to apply for a credit card, or buy a home, or access your credit info, the company in which they go through would be required to call you and confirm the access. There is an option for you to put your credit on alert if you feel that you may have given away too much info online or over the phone. Go ahead and do that, it doesn't hurt your credit in any way, and it's less severe than putting your file on a freeze, where no one can access it even if they call. It just adds extra security if you are worried. Look up "Fraud Alert" in google for more info. No worries, everything will be fine :)
