A law was put into effect as of April 2003 that requires all companies offering these types of programs to record all phone calls. The program is offered when the customer is placing their order. If the customer accepts the program, they are then read the terms and conditions of Simple Escapes and are asked by the agent to verify the last 4 digits of their credit card(that is required by law). Unfortunatly, there are employees who would push the "accept" button even when the customer had rejected the offer. Well as the saying goes, one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. This law is there to protect you the consumer from those bad apples and to protect the honest employees from being fired. If a customer calls to complain that they have been charge for this program fraudulantly a manager will look up the order, find out who placed it and listen to the phone call. If the customer rejected the program but the agent accepted it anyway, their employment will be terminated. I personally have had 3 complaints made against me for this, my supervisor listened to the call and in all three cases the customer did accept but must have forgotten about it. Don't get me wrong, I know how upsetting it is to find a charge on your credit card and not know what it is for. And these days you call to place a simple order and you get bombarded with offers, would you like to try this, are you interested in that? It is very frustrating. I am truelysorry this happened to you.
