My former mortgage company sold my mortgage to Select porfolio servicing in April 2016. I had had 20 years worth of mortgage payments without any late or missed payments. SPS initial refused to set me up on automatic withdrawals and told me to call in my payments from 4/2017 thru 6/2017. They told me that after June 2017, I would be eligible for automatic withdrawals. I called in and spoke to a live person in April, who confrimed my info and gave me a confirmation number.  I used the automatic telephone teller for May 2017, and also got a confirmation number. When I called my payment in for June, they informed me that my mortgage was in default and that they were unable to get funds out of my account for April 2017 or may 2017. I told them that I had confirmation numbers and could not get a clear answer as to why I wasn;t informed until then. SPS blamed my bank. My bank insisted that they had not requested funds from my account.

When all was said and done, it turns out that they had one number wrong in my account number. They blamed me. I insisted on hearing the tapes from the initial call and the automated call. SPS said they would research it but in the meantime, I could no longer call in payments, instead had to pay extra fees for western union, direct pay etc. I kept insisting to speak to a supervisor who eventually agreed to automaticdraft payments for 8/17, 9/17 & 10/17. They even told me over the phone that the fault was on their end!

I tried to apply for a mortgage in October and found out that SPS had reported that I was 30 days late in the month of August. I was livid! I contacted SPS again and was eventually consoled by an agent who agreed that the fault was on their end. She informed me that all the information was reported in my account and that SPS would be sending a retracting letter to the Credit Bureaus to update the information..but it would take about 30 days.

I contacted SPS again after speaking with a mortgage lender. the lender agreed to approve a mortgage but my interst rates would be high because of the report of 30 days late by SPS. I told the lender that I would 3-way the call to SPS, who had previously admitted that they had reported in error. I went through this entire story several times and eventually spoke to another Supervisor, Tonya Lopez, who refused to acknowledge that the wrong doing was on their end. I insisted to hear the tapes and she told me to hire a lawyer to supeaona them! I am certain that I did not supply them with the wrong account number for a bank account that I have had since 2009. I am certain that I would not play games with an account that I had so proudly had never defaulted on. I feel victimized and wish that I could afford a lawyer to help me with this.
