Concerning SmartFax Service:

If I knew what I knew today I would NOT have signed up for their service. The monthly cost is $6.95 per month even if you do not use the service, and more if you do use the service. I called their number to cancel and the person answering the phone said that their "cancel Service Server" was down and they could not do that. I emailed the company and they stated they could not cancel the service thru email. When I login to my account there is not place to cancel the service. The way I had to cancel the service was to report my CC stolen and let the bank issue a new card. I guess my lesson on this is before signing up for a service understand how easy it is to cancel.. ie MIssing Cancel service on website... Stay away from that service. I think a new law should be put in place to keep companies from doing automatic renewals without customer approval. This would eliminate 90% of the companies that are slipping charges on your CC or Account without you wanting that service. I guess my standard practice will be to have the banks cancel my CC's each year to avoid this deceptive practice by companies that have specifically designed the process to their advantage...

After cancelling the card I thought the problem was fixed... Nope. Smartfax company called VISA and VISA gave them my new account number to charge! I had to get serious with my bank to finally get this information. They said that VISA will give the new account information out to vendors when a card has been cancelled. REALLY! The company that is supposed to be securing your card information gives it out to a scam vendor.... I think VISA needs to be taken to the Civial Courts with a Civil Action Lawsuit. I know the lawyers end up with most of the revenue, but VISA needs to understand how to secure card information for unauthorized charges. This service was a month-to-month and had no long term contract associated with it.

Who has had the same kind of issues with their CC charges being put on a new card. This may appear to be the bank (ie WellsFargo), but they only collect interest, but they refer you to VISA which is the one responsible here.
