Smile by Webshots Thieves, Con-Artists, Liars ... DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! They will steal your money and delete your pictures! Internet
Firstly, I have been a member of Webshots.com since, practically, forever. I used the service to store ALL of my photos, so that I would never ever lose them. I even upgraded my service, starting in 2006, to Gold membership, to ensure that I had a large storage capacity to store my thousands of pictures. I was charged for this service on each and every renewal, and paid for such renewal automatically.
Then, in October of 2012, Webshots was taken over by "the original founders" and renamed Smile by Webshots. Accordingly, they CLAIM to have sent an e-mail to all members - which was absolutely never received by me - stating that they were doing to delete all of the pictures held on their servers. This accounted for YEARS of photographs, almost all of which can not be recovered. I went on the website to find a message reading, stating that they would be transitioning and that I would need to request a zip file of all of my photos. I requested this zip file, never received. Sent another request, never received it. Sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, who then forwarded the complaint to Belynda Santos, of Smile by Webshots. They failed to respond to three requests by the Better Business Bureau. I then re-filed on 2/15/2013. After numerous unanswered attempts, the company responded with "Consumer Has Been Refunded." THIS IS ABSOLUTE FRAUD AND COMPLETE LIE!!
This company has now DELETED ALL OF MY PICTURES, STOLE MY MONEY, and COMMITTED FRAUD!
I have filed official complaints with the New York State Attorney General's Office, FBI Division of Internet Crimes, Federal Trade Commission and Califonia Attorney General's Office. Also, I have filed notices with the district attorney's office and am seeking legal representation, with the intent of developing a class action lawsuit.
These people have destroyed memories that cannot be retrieved, stolen money, are stating blatent lies on their website (by which they are saying that Webshots Gold members can login and retrieve their photos) and have committed fraud.
I hope these thieves are stopped and justice is served!
