Smile Direct holds hostage the claim form by refusing to help you get reimbursed for the money you paid. They will not send you any papers that the doctor has signed until after you pay for the aligners in full. The insurance commpany requires that you have a doctor fill out your paperwork along with the itemized reciept showing what you paid out so far. I have been given the run around for the papers for days and they will not comply. I am not sure there is a real dentist covering my aligners or that I will get the full reimbursement since they will not give me the form to show I have a dentist involved. It is a big risk when you have ot pay $2000 to get the paperwork filled out that may or may not be filled out by a dentist.

When I first looked into this program they said I would get a receipt and get a doctors name on it so I could get reimbursment for the monies paid out. Now that I have the aligners, the story changes. I can't get the form filled out to get my insurance to help pay for what I paid so far. I am not claiming the entire amount for the aligners which I have not paid. I am simply trtying to get coverage and reimbursement for the monies I have paid $250 plus $40 for the set up. The way Smile Direct has it set up I would not see a dime from my insurance company unless I pay $2000 up front or wait 2 years to get it back when I pay it all off. They say whatever they have to say to get you in the program by saying your insurance will cover it and we will help you. We will get you a reciept once you sign they change what they say.

Since I cant get the papers filled out to get process started there is no guarantee that there is even a real doctor assigend ot my case and I might be out the complete $2000 with no recourse. I can't even speak to the doctor nor do I have any proof he exists. I am hoping to resolve this and that Smile Direct will allow the dentist if there is any to fill out page two so I can submit to get reimbursed for the monies I paid out so far. By making you pay it all in full before you get any insurance help in payment it means Smile Direct Club has a loophole to keep your claim denied. They hold your insurance compensation hostage so you have to  pay them upfront or take the gamble that they will send you a form and that there is actually a dentist involved.

It is a high risk gamble . They push you into the sale telling you yes it is covered and they will help you get your compensation coverage but once you pay them, it all changes. Sicne they wont get the dentist if there is one to sign on anything, it seems that others are not getting any evidence that there is a dentist involved. It is a bad system. They are all marketing with all that jazz but you as a consumer have no value ot them or they would help you get your compensation from your insurance company on time . They are paid on time, but you as the consumer do not rank that level or they would show you some care and concern by having the form filled out. I am only able to claim what I paid and they know it. Their denial is a game showing how little you truly matter to them as a person. You are just a $$.

Dentist does not exist

According to my insurance company who processed the Amercian Dental Association Claim form I was sent by Smile Direct, The dentist does not exist. The insurance company does not have a record for that dentist on my form.

They want to know where the ortho pieces were made, what the office phone number is, when that office was opened and what the tax id number is for the dentist on my form that they gave me. Accoridng to my insurance company they do not have proff that he exists and that to me is fraud.

My claim was not processed and it won't be until Smile Direct gives me that info or fills out the complete insurance company form that I sent them. You have to attach a reciept to the form that proves what you paid to them.

I am left with no reassurance that Eric Buck is a real dentist practicing in the state of Kentucky. My insurance ompany has dealt with Smile Direct before and they had a different dentist in the system and no records could be found on this Eric Buck. I have been given the run around for weeks now and I am not confident that this is going to work out.

Hey there, I am more than happy to speak with you on this subject. However, HIPAA laws do not allow us to discuss specific customer situations on public forums. I am definitely concerned to see this because it's not something that we want to hear from one of our club members.

Please feel free to send us an email at [email protected] to discuss this further.

Best,
