The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by Michael Hanna during an onsite inspection held by a third party verification company with no biases toward So Cal Lighting.

Coast2coast Lighting and So Cal Lighting specializes in providing lighting fixtures for a variety of needs including: home, landscape, business, residential, and commercial lighting. With 20 years of experience in the industry Michael Hanna expressed what sets them apart from other lighting companies, "with our expertise and longevity in this business we feel like we offer an advantage to new customers. Especially ones that have no idea about that they are buying." Mr. Hanna further stated, "we should be able to make sure your buying the right products. We don't oversell you, and we don't undersell you. You should never have to buy these lights again if you buy them from us."

Leads for Coast2coast Lighting and So Cal Lighting are primarily obtained through online advertising via Google and MSN, "for most of the categories that we offer we're usually in the top ranking." Once a potential client has expressed interest in Coast2coast Lighting & So Cal Lighting their primary resource will be their website which has detailed descriptions of all their services. You can also call in and talk to one of their many sales representative who not only can inform their client's about the products, but truly enjoy selling the products, “everything you see on the website is something that we've basically handpicked. Even though there are over 6,000 items...we put them in our hands, and make sure that we like them and would put them in our own homes." Additionally, if the potential client can provide the appropriate details, "we usually can tell you what type of product you're going to need to use without being on location."

CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION FROM SO CAL LIGHTING

During the onsite interview, Mr. Hanna was asked to describe some of the common complaints that they receive. Mr. Hanna expressed that while they rarely have any complaints, the most common would be if the manufactures that they utilize made some type of adjustment to a product without informing Coast2coast Lighting & So Cal Lighting. If an incident like this arises, "at that point obviously we take care of it...we're not going to make you keep it. We're going to take it back or try to match whatever you were looking for." If necessary they will offer a refund, but most customers are satisfied with their dedication to providing high quality products, "our satisfaction rating has got to be the best in the industry." This is expressed additionally through Mr. Hanna's follow up practices with customers who may have had a less that satisfactory experience, "one of the things I pride myself on is I want to make sure the customers are happy...sometimes 6 months to a year later I'll email them and follow up. Make sure that everything is ok."

When asked to comment on the complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Mr. Hanna explained that the comments came from a past customer who purchased handmade lights. During the ordering process the customer requested the lights to be finished with black paint. However, once the customer received the lights he decided he no longer wanted to black paint, and stripped the lights of their color. Once he did this he realized that the fixtures were made with copper, and he wanted brass. Mr. Hanna stated, "everything was exactly the way he ordered it, he just changed his mind." To assure future and current clients Coast2coast Lighting & So Cal Lighting have each client rate them, all ratings and comments can be accessed from their website.

When asked what type of changes they have made to honor their commitment to make things right with the customer per the request of Ripoff Report, Mr. Hanna stated, "we keep it a small family owned business in order to take care of our customers better.

Ripoff Report would like to let readers know that Ripoff Report emailed this customer so the member business could make things right with them. STATEMENT FROM SO CAL LIGHTING:

The person responsible (John Mitchell) for impersonating the CEO (Mike Hanna) and sending those atrocious e-mails has long been fired. We have implemented a much more thorough screening process to eliminate situations such as this one. As for the product complaints, we have addressed all issues regarding customers receiving the incorrect lighting fixtures by implementing a new tagging system which will ensure that the correct product is being sent to the corresponding customer. So Cal Lighting is completely dedicated to customer satisfaction, so much so that we have not had a single complaint since then, and that was five years ago!

NOW TO THE ORIGINAL REPORT THAT WAS FILED

Buyer Beware of SO CAL Lighting. We purchased several items from SoCal Lighting April 2009 and will never buy from them again. My goal in life now is to expose them publicly. The depiction they represent is far from honest. My order was missing items and the items that did arrive were not USA made as advertised. And they would not take my claim on the phone or Email! This is how So Cal Lights replied to me in their emails: YOU SOUND LIKE YOUR TRYING TO STEAL FROM US. And because I stopped taking their calls (as I was tired of the insults) they also emailed me: YOUR NOT A MANBE A MAN PICK UP OUR CALLS Below is a break down of the events. Length of Time3 weeks for 6 light fixtures; Order was placed on April 15th 2009 early AM. I received it May 1st 2009! That's 16 days after I placed the order and they are located only 4 hours away from me. After I did a Google earth I realized that Socal Lights is nothing but a small rented office with a warehouse not much larger than a 2 car garage. They are not a factory or large corporation, a far cry from how they represent themselves on their web site. They obviously drop ship 99.9% of the items posted on their site. Misleading and False advertising on Socal Lights Web site: They have a USA flag on the top of many of their web pages to help their deception. And on their web site the clearly note that ALL of their brass and copper items are USA made. Well the items I received were brass and copper and they were NOT USA made. When I noted this in my email/claim, the reply was your right and we should change that to MOST of our items are USA made. I replied that would not be acceptable or honest as the word most does NOT tell the public WHICH specific items are USA made. They even tried to old bait and switch on me when I told them I wanted to return the NON USA made lights, by offering me a fixture at almost TRIPLE the cost and they assured me that one would be USA made! The nerve! They also post that they are #rated by some contractors digest. Well I checked this out and found no such place exists to provide a rating. And the BBB (better business bureau) verified this as well (see below). They also display a large banner making you believe they have 20 years experience. They have only been open since April 2004! And based on the BBB records and after speaking with Mr. Mitchell (the president of the BBB southern California branch) we concluded that there is no way that any one at So Cal could have 20 years experience. The Better Business Bureau When I checked out SoCal Lighting with the BBB I noted that not only was BBB after them but so were several other government agencies. And the BBB provides the real information on ownership. So Cal lights web site posts phony owners name. The BBB also identified them under two company names. Apparently they are also a company called Sunrise Lights which has an established bad reputation. Hence the attempted name change to Socal. But the BBB caught that and exposed that as well. Here is what the BBB also notes about So Cal Lighting: On March 27, 2009, we wrote to this company asking them to substantiate their claim that they are rated number one. We are requesting the company to provide the specific publication where they bestowed this rating on him, provide the circulation of the publication, and explain in detail the criteria that was used to designate his company as number one. We asked the company to contact our office within the next ten days. The company responded to our request by stating they will provide a copy of the publication in May 2009. We will await the publication. This company is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. The company continues to misuse the Bureau's name and/or logo improperly and without permission. The company has been notified to remove all references to the Better Business Bureau's name, logo, and/or initials. They would NOT take our claim on the phone or via email: When we purchased no where did it say should we have a claim we would need a fax. And since we did NOT need a fax when we bought it only makes sense that we would NOT need one if we had a claim. When I explained that I did not have a fax, the unidentified person who refused to give his or her name replied that's our policy. They would NOT even take my claim VIA email! When I debated that the fax policy was not posted when I bought the person that wanted to remain anonymous at Socal lighting replied I will see what I can do. Of course they NEVER replied again, EXCEPT by telling me I am a liar and not a man. Jim C. San Martin, California

I will be there with you! Please let me know how you want to proceed. We must gather all clients that Sunrise, Socal , Sonrise, So cal lights has ripped off! We can also contact the BBB since they have also been slandered by this scam lighting company. I have also hired a PI and will be more than happy to share my file with you. We must shut this place down before they hurt more people.

Mr Hanna et al,

Please post your proof of the offers of refund you so often state you make so we may consider this input. Also, please be up front and identify yourself rather than hide behind anonymity.

Also, to others, please contact me with respect to a joint law suit. The more who participate the better the outcome and the less it will cost each person involved. I will do all of the work, in fact I have already begun the process. Of course, if you wish to actively participate versus passively, this would be even better.

The corporation owning my company had their attorney send me this little bit of information (I do not know if they are incorporated yet):
1. Contact the state in which they are incorporated. If unable to find that information, contact the state attorney general's office and demand that they investigate them for invasion of privacy, identity theft, and fraud.

2. Get an intellectual/business/litigation attorney and sue them for damages. Such behavior is completely unacceptable and you have the right to keep your information private.

He gave me some referrals, I am interested to know if you would like to do this jointly.

Now you see what happens when you buy from So Cal Lighting AKA Sunrise Lights.

1. I was called a liar 2. I was called a thief 3. I was told I am not a man and now: 4. I am a pedophile 5. On this web site they even posted my full credit card # with expiration date:(((Redacted)))

well we have offered a refund to this customer three times at least look at the public forums socal lighting has over 25,000 customers this is the only person that has complained if you look at other public forums you will see this guy has over 28 complaints against other companies he calls himself the norhern defender he is one of those people that causes trouble for anybody they buy from he will not pick up his phone and he just jumped to complaining he just bought this order two weeks ago he never gave us a chance to prove to him we sent him his order we have tracking info and the weight of package delivery confirmation one complaint this whole time and on top of that this was such a small order i wish we never dealt with this guy also look at his picture looks like a pedafile!!

WE HAVE MADE MANY ATTEMPTS TO HELP THIS CUSTOMER WE HAVE RECREATED HIS PACKAGE AND THE WEIGHT WITH HIS ITEMS CAME TO 9LBS WHICH IS EXACTLY THE WEIGHT IT SHOULD BE THE CUSTOMER WILL NOT CALL US BACK HE HAD A VERY SMALL ORDER AND CLAIMS ALMOST THE WHOLE PACKAGE WAS MISSING INSTEAD OF DEALING WITH US ON IT HE WOULD SEND EMAILS DEMANDING THAT WE JUST SEND HIM EXTRA ITEMS WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO DO A CLAIM THIS HAS BEEN VERY UNFAIR TO US HE HAS BAD MOUTHED OUR COMPANY WITHOUT GIVING US A SHOT AT TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM HE NEVER CALLED IN AND WE TRIED CALLING HIM NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO AVAIL WE HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER 14 YEARS I HAVE BEEN IN THIS INDUTRY SINCE 1995 IM IN NO WAY GOING TO RISK MY COMPANIES REPUTATION OVER TWO STEP LIGHTS BUT WE DO HAVE A PROCESS IF SOMETHING IS MISSING OR DAMAGED WE ASK THAT YOU FAX THE PACKING SLIP TO US SO WE MAY FILE A CLAIM BUT THE CUSTOMER CLAIMS THAT HE HAS NO WAY TO FAX WHICH IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAN HE CLAIMS THAT HE SPENT OVER 2,500 DOLLARS BUT HE SPENT AROUND 200 DOLLARS AND HAS MADE OUR LIFES MISERABLE WE CANNOT GET A HOLD OF HIM AND ANYTHING WE TRY TO DO TO HELP HIM HE WILL NOT LET US AND YES ALL OF COPPER AND BRASS FIXTURES ARE MADE HERE IN THE EXCEPT FOR ONE SPOT LIGHT THAT WE OFFER THATS IT EVERYHTTHING IS MADE HERE WE GAURENTEE WE DO NOT NEED TO BAIT AND SWITCH SOMEONE FOR TWO FIXTURES I MAKE 4 DOLLARS A UNIT ON WHAT HE BOUGHT I HAVE NO REASON TO TRY AND RIP OFF ANYBODY ESPECIALLY FOR LESS THAN $50 OF PRODUCT WE ARE STILL WILLING TO HELP THIS CUSTOMER I WISH WE NEVER SOLD HIM ANYTHING FOR SUCH A SMALL PROFIT IT HAS BEEN A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE I GUESS THERE IS ALWAYS ONE CUSTOMER YOU CANT SATISFY!!
