SoftwareLess - P. Parana - Philip J. Parana - Sales Max Almost Got Me But Not Quite Thanks to Rip-Off Reports Buffalo New York
Find this company online after a Google Search for Adobe Software as a Sponsored Link. Website looked okay and had a form for filling in shipping information and billing information that looked like most other legitimate sites. I placed the order of Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 for $59.00 plus $5.00 shipping. The next day, I got an e-mail reply indicating that he could not charge my credit card, but if it was okay, he would send it USPS C.O.D. if I replied to his e-mail. I still thought that would be okay, so I replied to his e-mail and asked how the check should be made out so we could pay with a company check. That way, if the package arrived and it was not legitimate software, I could stop payment on the check. He replied that payment had to be by cash or Money order made payable to P. Parana.
At this point, I became very suspicious because if it was a legitimate business, the money order would have been made payable to his company and not to an individual. At that point in time, my Office Manager Googled P. Parana and found Rip-Off reports about his prior activities. Same modus operandi with another person who reported that he was ripped off, only with Windows XP, and another who also ordered Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 for $79. I guess I was getting a better deal!
I forwarded copies of the Rip-Off reports to him this morning and told him that I would not pay for the software when it arrives. I intend to give the mail carrier copies of the ripoff reports that I read online and ask that he give the information to the USPS Mail Fraud division for followup.
This website provides a great service and I will always check it first before doing business with an online retailer that is not a name I recognize and know is reputable.
