Had a pay a huge price for not reading fine prints and not checking bank statements.

We have been travelling with Southwest for more than 10 yrs now, last few years we have frequently travelled thru Southwest. Due to long term relations, I was unconsciously trusted southwest. I cancelled few times thinking that I must have got credit for that. Recently we found almost 3600 dollar were stuck in 4 different cancellation. After several call got customer relations officer number, spoke with her and told her it was our honest mistake and keeping in our long commitment with Southwest to refund the money - her response was BIG NO.....

When we login to southwest, there is no place or no pop ups shows up saying you have such and such credit..... Isnt this intentional? Southwest is intentionally hiding our money....... This is such a scam some one should check how much money in a year South west is makeing money on this cancellation scam.

Southwest biggest sales pitch is free cancellation, and thats why customers buy southwest - I want people to know and be careful when they cancel their tickets to make sure check their bank for refund if not call Southwest.........

Thanks,

Anil

There is a difference between "cancelling" a ticket and getting a refund.

Just about every other airline will charge you a "fee" to cancel or change a ticket. This fee is taken off of the credit you receive, if the fee happens to be more than the cost of the ticket then you get nothing. Now, this fee on some airlines can exceed $200 for a domestic ticket. With Southwest there is no "fee" so if you paid $99 for a flight you get a $99 credit.

But this is NOT the same as a refundable ticket. If you have a ticket classified as "Non-Refundable" you only get a credit toward another flight, only if it is "Refundable" to you get the money back. Now, how do you know if you have a refundable ticket. The best way is price, a fully refundable ticket can be 2-3 times higher than the cost of a Non-Refundable Ticket. So of you are booking the absolute lowest price you can it isn't refundable.  By the way this is also the same with every other airline.

There is no Rip-Off here just as you admited to a failure of someone to read the terms of the ticket.
