The marriage license bureau is the business that you should be upset with. A couple must obtain a marriage license before a legal marriage can be performed, if a marriage license was issued, then the couple passed the checks and satisfied the state. No minister ever asks a couple if they are still married because it is not their job to do so, it is the function of the marriage license bureau. You are upset over a claim that a marriage was performed while you were still "Legally" married, but that is not the wedding chapels fault, nor the minister. I would ask you to please investigate how the marriage process happens in Nevada before making false claims about myself and the chapel. Here is a link to the marriage license bureaus site, clarkcountynv.gov/clerk/services/Pages/MarriageLicenses.aspx , as you can see, it is their job to make sure all legal aspects of the marriage are in order, it is only the ministers job to officiate the ceremony, in other words “notarize” it. Your anger is misplaced, and your comments are not appropriate.

Carol, you need to get your facts straight too. Just like the person who originally wrote this. You don't know what you are talking about either. The minister and/or chapel has NO obligation to check out whether or not someone is already married. The only person who can be charged or sued is the person who got married without first getting a divorce.

It seems that POLYGAMY is a thing that is "winked" at in Nevada. Might I suggest that you file a complaint with the Police, where you are. You will get nowhere with the state of Nevada itself. File a Complaint with The Federal Trade Commission for Identity Theft and unlawful use of name...as soon as possible and Make sure to report it to the FBI! Then get an Attorney and sue the wedding Chapel! Their only Concern is Money, not Morality. Hopefully those who need to be in jail, will have suitable accommodations at Taxpayer expense, in Jail for a long time. Good luck to you!

The minister/pastor is under no obligation to check a couples background before performing a wedding ceremony - I know of what I speak - My father is a Reverend (means that he has a degree in Theology)
Blame your wife!!! She is the one who committed bigamy!

Seriously, why would you think this was the fault of the minister/officiant? This would be the fault of bureau of marriage licensing at the court house. It is not the job of an officiant to verify whether or not someone was already married. So get your facts straight before slandering people. Slander is a very serious offense.

You really expect a Las Vegas Wedding Chapel to do a complete records search to verify if a person is already married.
Perhaps you should take this up with your wife(and I presume your future ex-wife). As if there was anything on the Marriage License that has her certify under penalty of perjury that she is not already married, she is the one who actually broke the law when she signed it.
