Anyone who thinks of doing work for this company think again. Spence group services is the management division for the spence family burger king franchises operate in McHenry & Lake Count y Illinois. Basicly it rewashes the money made from burger kings in managment fees. Spence the company I work for to do parking lot maintenance.

My company completed the maintenance and even did over $5000 in additional free work. My company had the lots inspected by a third party to insure all work was complete and within industry standard. When it came time to pay, the scam started. Spence group had burger flippers inspect the pavement work. then came back with every location needs more work. The owner of my company said sure it would cost this much more. And their was no response from them.

I worked on every location, and the work along with the independant inspections all were above industry standard. We have come to find out we are just 1 of a long list of contractors that the Spence Family Burger Kings have screwed around. Now my job is at risk since my company owes $30,000 in material costs to our suppliers. Our company owner said that he is working to make payment arranagments however, if that does not work he will have to let most of us go, since litigation takes a some time.

Remember this the next time you think about eating at burger king. Between me and 5 other employees we have 17 children that need to be provided for because of these scumbags.

I myself have called Burger King Corporate and they said not our problem. So much for the PR about family.

Update 11-12-2009

Ok, here is the current bullsh*t from Spence Group and their attorney Christopher Ondrula, the two hat wearing manipulator.

Offered to pay for the materials, not all of them just the materials they want to. The 8500 pounds of rubber for crack sealing, the 2400 pounds of propane to heat that rubber they do not want to pay for. No labor, fuel or any other expenses. Notta, zip, zelch.

Here is the kicker, from the gross material amount they have offered to pay which is around 53% of what is owed, they want to deduct an additional $10,000 for me posting there scam here.

Also in efforts to defraud me further of the money owed to the company, Mr. Ondrula filed a motion and attached a signed affidavit stating that our liens and lawsuit we file for the lake county properties belonged in McHenry since the service agreement states that all matters be resolved in McHenry. We agreed to follow the contract becasue that is what honest people do.

Well, Mr. Ondrula then filed a motion violating the service agreement asking that the liens be dismissed because they are in a different county.  For clarity, he signed a sworn affidavit, then turned around to try and cheat the company once again.

Spence Group Services are pros at the game  of cheating small business apparently. Will keep you updated as the drama of these clowns trying to cheat our company unfolds.

Decided to update this case.

10 days ago Spence Group Services, the operators of some 65 burger kings in IL, OH, PA.  Served papers SUING FOR ... 13 MILLION DOLLARS FOR POSTING THIS ON RIPOFF REPORT AS LIABLE. That is correct! The non paying company is using its multi million dollar muscle!

I know your needing a restroom break from laughing, based on the shear Irony of this company suing because they do not want to pay their bill of over $40,000 with interest and late fees.

Now here is the kicker..... they will withdraw their suit if the company will "Forget" the $40K bill they owe!  Extortion, muscling whatever you want to call it.  But this small family owned business is not intimidated and will fight this for the next 80 years publishing every detail until this is resolved and the bill is paid in full with all interest and legal fees recovered.

I will keep posting all new information and issues as they happen.

Shortly I will be taking out full page ads in USA today and the Wallstreet journal outlining this entire event from start to it;s current state. Every small business in America needs to know about this.  Stay tuned.

Pot Hole Injury In Auruoa

Vanessa, No surprise reading what your experience was dealing with this company. They just paid out over a million dollars because they were to cheap to spend the $50 for a background check and one of there managers was murdered by an employee that had a violent history and ended up stabbing the manager (A mother of three young children) to death while robbing the store. The entire management of this company are sleaze balls. The owner William Spence Jr. employees a staff where there only job is to not pay what they owe. The Chief Operating Officer Christopher Ondrula is also the in house attorney who's job is to help the Spence Family cheat and steal everything they can get away with. The properties manager sandy MacDonald is the one that disutes everything so they do not have to pay The company I worked for did not do any work for them in your area but I would get a personal injury attorney who is only paid once you collect so it does not cost you and sue them for your injuries. I am not surprised the lot is in bad shape they dont pay the contractors and all the plants now will not load material on credit if it is going to burger king locations. Who wants to work for them. They are a true RIPOFF company.

Injured via pot hole Burger King parking lot!

During my research on Burger King I found your complaint. I was walking across a Burger King parkinglot to SubWay when I stepped into a pot hole, twisted my ankel, injured my knee and my rotator cuff of my right shoulder. I filed a incident report on June 16, 2008 in Elgin, with the store manager. The pot hole was filled the next day. The insurance called me that Monday and told me it is unfortunate that they could not see the pot hole because it was filled. I told them it was not a problem because I took a picture. After 8 months and them receiving copies of all of my medical bills they are denying the claim. They are insighting that the pot hole is De Minimis rule " does not require property owners to keep their prooperty in perfect condition at all times. This was not a tranverse area. this was a level surface with a pot hole. Yet the filled this pot hole the next day even though it was normal for the whole to be there. You people doing the work are not the only ones being shafted by Burger King! I am now taking my case to an attorney. Vanessa
