Spencer's Tv & Appliances RIPOFF! Your friend in the business... That's a bunch of bull! Glendale Arizona

On Wednesday April 25th 2007, I walked into Spencer's TV & Appliances located on 43rd Ave Glendale. I spoke to a manager name Roger Leetch about renting a refrigerator or possibly buying it if it was feasible. I settled with the Frigidaire Black FRS6R4EB model.

The only thing I can say good about this company is that they were quick to deliver a brand new defective refrigerator to my home Thursday the next day. I was told that it would take 8 to12 hours for the fridge to cool. I immediately notice that the fridge was not blowing out cold air at all. This was due to the fact that my Heineken beer, Arizona Tea and bottled water sat in the freezer portion for about 3 hours and was still at room temperature.

So I called Spencer's and talked with Roger (The Manager). He told me to unplug the fridge for 15 minutes so that it could reset itself. That didn't work so he gave me a number to call a service tech at Goldwing Appliance Fact Serv (a company that services Spencer's appliances) to come over and fix the fridge on Friday. The technician told me that they get a lot of service calls for this model. He said that there is some type of tube installation problem that occurs during the assembly of the fridges.

Anyways he took about 15 minutes and said that the problem was fixed. So I opened up the refrigerator and noticed no difference. I felt little to no air coming out of the refrigerator portion of the fridge and it was not cold at all. I opened the freezer door and felt air coming out of the vent but it was not cold at all. He told me that it would take another 8 to 12 hours for the refrigerator to cool. I don't know about you but it shouldn't take that long for a brand new refrigerator to blow out cold air! My beer, bottled water and tea sat in the freezer for 2 days at room temperature.

Extremely frustrated about the defective brand new refrigerator, the waste of time, money, no food in the house and a service technician from Goldwing Appliances that didn't fix anything. I called Spencer's Friday evening to speak to Roger; he left for the evening so I talked to Julio I think that was his name. I explained my problem and he told me that the Manager will be calling me first thing Saturday morning. Saturday morning came and I never received a call. I called and talk to Roger and he said that he never seen or heard of a message left by me.

So I told him again that this refrigerator is still not working and that my fianc was very upset and I need a new refrigerator. I told him that I didn't want the same model and that could I have the next model that was about $200 bucks more for the price that I'm paying now because of the inconvience. He said that he would get back to me after he discusses this with his manager. I guess every sales rep there at Spencer's are managers! A guy named Kerry (Manager) called and left a message regarding the new refrigerator that was being delivered.

I didn't actually listen to his message until he showed up at my home. Kerry didn't smile not once. He was very distant and didn't seem to care about what I was trying to tell him about the refrigerator. He didn't make me feel like he was there to resolve the issue he didn't put me at ease at all. It seemed like he was in a hurry to get it done. His customer service skills sucked. He didn't seem professional to me at all. He removed the defective unit and wanted me to sign a new contract for the new model refrigerator. I told him I thought I was getting this model for the same price because of the inconvenience. He told me that he couldn't do that and that I would have to pay more for the new model.

These guys been in the business for over 30 years; they get these TV's, Refrigerators, Stoves, Washer & Dryers, etc for dirt cheap from the manufacturers! They inconvenienced us for 2 days and the only thing this guy offered was $50 off next months bill. I just bought a brand new refrigerator and I'm already having a problem with it! Come on! I called Roger and asked why I am signing a new contract. He explained that he couldn't work with me on the new refrigerator.

So I asked if I could use the new refrigerator until he brought me back another one of the same model that I purchased and he said no. So I said can I get a new refrigerator sent here today and he said no. I told Roger that this was bad business and he replied; I have canceled the contract. I didn't ask for the contract to be cancelled nor did I imply to do so. Since I didn't sign a new contact on the new refrigerator he cancelled my contract all together.

While I was on the phone with Roger; Kerry was already telling me to come and pick up my deposit from the store. This was a problem done by Spencer's and they tried to make it seem like it was my fault. Roger said that they went out of their way to accommodate me. How did they I asked and his reply was the quick response to the bullshit service technician that came out and didn't fix the problem and the Kerry guy that came out to replace the refrigerator with a new contract and cancel my old contract all together if I didn't agree to the terms of the new contract on the new refrigerator. On the old contract I signed and the terms and conditions are numbered.

Line 11 states that Spencer's is not responsible for any unauthorized repairs. In the event any repairs cannot be accomplished on an in-home basis. Spencer's shall either provide Customer with substitute property of comparable quality and condition during the repair period or abate rental during the entire repair period if no substitute property of comparable quality and condition is available. Does that tell you that Spencer's violated their own contract?

Spencer's could have allowed me to use that new refrigerator until they replaced the defective model I had. Where is the customer service? Or your friend in the business line of bullshit. Line18 in the contract states that this agreement cannot be changed except in writing signed by both Spencer's and the Customer.

Line 7 states that Spencer's may terminate this agreement if Customer fails to keep any of Customer's agreements hereunder. I didn't violate anything. A brand new not tested or slipped through inspection defective refrigerator was delivered to my home and sat for 2 days and Spencer's just simply walked away when I refused to pay more for a refrigerator that costs $200 dollars more.

Spencer's has been in the business for 30 years so they feel like they can treat people like s**t and cancel their contracts without hurting their reputation. Your friend in the business they say. Your friend won't leave you in your home with no refrigerator and basically telling you to go elsewhere.
