Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Where does the incompetence end? I went in with chest pains. I told the ER staff that I had a religious belief not to take medications & that when I did stop taking them, I was allergic to aspirin. The doctor mentioned doing an angioplasty & nothing else. I woke up the next day to find out the doctor had placed medicated stents in an artery. Not only were the medicated stents a violation of my religious beliefs, those type of stents are not recommended for people allergic to aspirin! I asked where my clothes & belongings were. The staff didn't know, but thought they may have been in the operating room. They said it was locked until Monday, but someone from security would be able to look. Despite my asking the staff at least a dozen times over Saturday & Sunday, the staff never bothered to call security to look. I also did not have insurance & was reluctant to apply for Medicaid. It seems the hospital was more intent on me registering for Medicaid than they were about my personal property. Mysteriously, my belongings appeared minutes after I was coerced into filling out the Medicaid application.

Despite my attempts to cancel the Medicaid, the hospital rushed my paperwork in to DHS. Medicaid covered about $75,000 (only actually paying a small percentage of the total) out of just over $100,000 in "services". I doubt St. Joe's will ever see a penny of the remainder. The hospital excuses the doctor and staff for this because by signing the consent form I waived all my legal rights & religious beliefs. Also, the fact that the ER staff never wrote down my religious beliefs or allergies. To this day, the hospital refuses to correct my medical records & also refuse to even speak with me.

They did NOT do exactly as I wanted! Allergic to aspirin, so lets put in stents that can cause strokes in people allergic to aspirin & by the way, they accomplished that. Exactly a month later, I had a stroke because of their incompetence.

Also, at no point in time did they discuss the stents or the risk factors involved. The stents alone can cause stroke. The plavix they recommend can cause stroke. The medicated stents they placed can cause stroke in people allergic to aspirin.

So don't tell me that I should be greatful, because St Joe's brags that they care for the poor & uninsured. What they don't tell you is they want their money, no matter what. Medicaid covered $75,000 of the expenses, but St Joe's accepted less than 20% as full payment. But without insurance, they would have tried to hold me to the full amount!

Also,. witholding clothes until you sign up for medicaid is illegal kidnapping!

St Joe's brags that they respect people's religious beliefs, but ignore them at every turn.

Maybe people's beliefs outweigh whatever St joe's did.

I have been without medications since St Joe's caused my stroke & have no medical concerns at this time.

At what point in time are the doctors God?! That is what one nurse told me. I signed over all legal rights & religious beliefs to the doctor.

St Joe's religion is money & not giving respect to a person's beliefs. They are greedy money grubbers & are only in the business of making money.

You sit there and complain that a EMERGENCY ROOM is not complying with YOUR beliefs, so WHY did you go to an ER that uses DRUGS?!?!? If YOU were so firmly concerned about your beliefs you would have just stayed home and let the heart attack kill you. Obviously you wanted to live, so you went to a hospital. Stop complaining that they did EXACTLY what you wanted and kept you alive. Funny how NOW you complain about how YOUR beliefs were ignored. Had they done as YOU wanted, well you would probably be dead right now. So take a good strong look at those beliefs, it seems they ONLY have as much conviction as you have life in your body. And I applaud them for holding YOUR clothes.

How else were they supposed to secure payment from you if you had no insurance?? It may be an ER but it IS NOT a charity. Each item used on you must be replaced and each person who worked on you needs to be paid. So to sum up your complaint....Your beliefs were NOT strong enough to carry you through this medical event, so YOU go to the ER. THEY do exactly what YOU wanted, and that's to keep you alive. They hold onto your clothes to ensure PAYMENT for KEEPING YOU ALIVE, and somehow in all of this THEY are monsters for doing EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED THEM TO DO!!!!

Heres a thought.... (((redacted rudeness))) YOU are also lacking the convictions of your beliefs. Im sure it must make you feel better to THINK that you live your life 100% drug free. But there is a REALITY here that YOU chose to ignore. Stop playing the victim.....because YOU have NOT been ripped off OR victimized. If you TRULY had the convictions needed for your belief structure you would have NEVER gone to the hospital. Why? Because they DO NOT practice homeopathic. Its drugs!!! So your FEAR of death over rode your beliefs. THAT is NOT their fault!!! Stop blaming them for your choices.
