Standard Auto Engines unacceptable craftsmanship- shavings in engine - returned engine as instructed - failure to honor warranty - told of bankruptcy - hole where my engine should be Chesapeake Virginia
i purchased a remanufactured engine from standard auto engines - since i no longer have a credit card i paid with a cashier's check $1795 - i guess that was my 2nd mistake since my first was believing the man's sister when she assured me that her brother was a man of integrity. the engine arrived at the bp & it looked good from the outside unfortunately the problems soon began with the bolt hole that mounts the tensioner - it was stripped. the mechanic was instructed to fix it & he would be reimbursed. he fixed but the standard tensioner would not hold the belt. he tried 2 more neither worked - kept throwing the belt.thinking all would be resolved by the time i got back i went on vacation. needless to say when i returned things were not resolved but infact worse - shavings in the engine verified by a machine shop with the shavings and photos and witnesses. standard auto engines told the mechanic to pull the engine & send it back which he did. then the engine was "lost" for 2 weeks sitting on Estes loading dock. when they finally found it & did "their" autopsy they claimed that the shavings had entered through the intake & refused to honor their warranty. then when i called to find out what was going on i was told that they were filing bankruptcy & that i would receive notice from the court within 2 weeks. i never heard from the court but after an angry email i heard from standard auto with information of their autopsy & was offered another engine for $600 + $150 transportation. needless to say i was/am furious. i called consumer affairs in virginia & just got the run around. at this point i am at my wit's end, in need of help.
