I received a letter from Staples stating that if every teacher in the school gave Staples their back to school list, by the end of May, that every teacher would receive a $50.00 coupon.

When the lists were dropped off, I was told that the store was out of coupons, but to give them the address of the school, the number of coupons needed, and the coupons would be sent to the teachers.

A month has gone by and nothing! I have gone back to the store several times and received no coupons. I also have contacted the corporate office and was told that the program was now over, and that they were not issuing any more coupons.

Now Staples has a new program where every teacher is to get a $10.00 coupon for their lists. I have contacted the local store and was told that we did not qualify for this program because the teachers handed their lists in during May. Upon calling the corporate office I was told that we did not qualify, because we had participated in the earlier program.

What perticpation. All we got were false promises and no coupons!

I read your report and am unclear as to what kind of letter they gave you and the rest of the staff. Even a form the size of a coupon or even smaller has to be honored, in most States of the Union. When they turned you away at the store, they didn't honor their written word. If you didn't see a statement, "We do not give rainchecks, when special offers run low", they have to give you a rain check. There is still a chance you can get them to honor their agreement, and give you what you have coming. Send the Manager-Regional or higher up, if necessary, a detailed letter, a copy of your Rip-off report, and make them sign for it. Make sure they know you won't hide their lack of professionalism and commitment to honor their coupon promotions. Then add a list of either teacher's or support organizations, who might need to be warned about this stores unreliability. It sounds like you still might be able to renegotiate, because you're a teacher, and deserve better respect. Please don't give me an "F" on my Rebuttal, because I'll cry. :) No just joking. Hope this helps, and I love teachers!!!
