I have faithfully shopped at the Stater Brothers in Whittier since 1964. This Sunday ( November 23 ) was my last. I have watched the prices continue to rise daily since the labor dispute started, but I find a $4.00 per pound chicken, a wise cracking meat clerk, and a total lack of customer care to be the last straw. For me, the labor dispute is over. I hope that the corporate heads at Stater brothers have factored the long term loss of faithfull customers into their short term greed. I am fairly certian that the 40 years of honest profit they have obtained from my family will never equal the amount they would hope to gain during a labor dispute. Shame on you...

Jim, I'm an employee of Stater Brothers and honestly, I can tell you that your concerns on prices and labor disputes are not a product of Stater's "greed". Walmart can take the blame for both. The reason the labor dipsutes are happening is because national chains such as Safeway are losing profits to Walmart Super centers. Therefore, nationally owned chains (Vons, Ralphs and Albertson's) are requesting a cut back in wages to cover their losses. Stater Brothers on the other hand, is privately owned and only located in Southern California, which has not been invaded by Super Centers. We are all part of a union so theoretically if something affects one grocery chain, it's supposed to affect us all. And the reason Staters is not striking is because Stater Brother's negotiators have said that we agree to anything the union comes to an agreement on, because esentially Staters can afford to pay the wages whether they're 17.90 an hour or 14.00 an hour. As for your chicken, it's on sale for 1.29 a pound this week. Maybe you shouldn't have picked up a Zachy Farms chicken which is not priced by Stater Brothers meat department. Well, have fun crossing the picket lines.
