After reading the reviews from Consumer Affairs, I decided to transport my new car from Dallas to Florida. I spoke to the agent (Bill) on Feb 4 and got my quote for moving my car. I got a mail from the agent that my car would be picked up from my place on 02/06 and would be delivered to me in tally by 02/08. I got a mail again on 7th mentioning that the truck got cancelled. Again I recd a mail on 9th...said they would pick up the car on 9th and I would get it by 11. They picked up my car at 2 pm from Dallas on 02/09 and today being 19th, I have still not received my car.

I tried calling Stateway many times...nobody comes on the lines nor guides properly. Finally I got to speak to one agent (Toni) who said she would ask someone from customer care contact me but never called back to check. It's been 7 days now after I spoke to her. I got to speak to another agent (Jessica) who transferred my call to the Manager who said I would get the car by Thursday and promised me a discount on my price. Who cares for a discount when I am bothered about my car?

One more thing I wanted to mention -- They said they have truck tracking facility, but it's wrong. I was not able to track my car. Meanwhile I have contacted the driver of the truck. He said his truck broke down in Louisiana and it's been a week getting repaired. I am worried about my car now, as it's been many days. Still no calls or mails from Stateway Auto. It is Thursday 02/23 and still now I have not received my car nor a call from Stateway.

I am interested in your situatuation since I had a very similar thing happen to me. I never got my vehicle... and its been about a year now. I have no way of knowing how to contact you but you can find my contact information by doing a little creative online searching using Stateway Auto Transport and 1998 Dodge Ram in the same sentence.

At some point you wil have to push legally.

The following is all guesses based on disasters I have seen moving cars from place to place.

 Questions to ask right now:

Who has your car, we know it was brokered to a trucking company ( Just from how they are talking to you ) You need the Legal name of the trucking company including DOT #.

You need exact location of your car, if I  had to guess in a storage yard while the truck "Gets Fixed". Meaning probably you first trucker dropped your car part way and the Broker is trying to get another truck to move it the rest of the way. They won't admit it but I would bet lunch money on it. The money was too small for the original trucker, or he couldn't put together a full load or it is remotely possible he broke down. Now the broker can't find anybody to move it the rest of the way.

By now Stateway will just not be talking to you, Hopefully you know who has your car and where Stateway claims it is. Call the storage yard or Repair facility and ask if your car is sitting there and if it is on a trailer. Make sure you give them a plate number as they are not going to be willing to look for the VIN.

If it is where Staeway told you:

You have to decide, do you give them more time? Arainge another trucking company? Something else?

If Stateway can't or wont give you the info it might be legit, the truck might be moving again, then you should wait.

If they can't or wont provide info and you are convinced they have lost your car or are just not going to deliver, complain to "The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration". If your complaint or Trucking company does not fall under their umbrella they will direct you.

Once you are sure your car is never going to show up call the police and report it stollen. They will advise you how long you have to wait to insure its just not crummy service. You will have to get a valid complaint reference to claim on your insurance.
