I contacted a yorkie breeder named Christi Anderson in Missouri to inquire about getting a puppy. She promptly emailed me back stating she had already sold all of her puppies, but knew of a gentleman she had sold 3 yorkies to him 1 male and 1 female and his name was Steve Rowland who was a doctor and had just been sent to Nigeria. He was now unable to care for the puppies and wanted to adopt them out. She put me in touch with him through email. He contacted me stating how much the puppies were loved and cared for and that all I would need to pay was the shipping cost of $350.00 to him to be shipped here to my local airport Washington Dulles International in Virginia. The dog was then to be delivered to my home. I sent the money to his travel agent Miguel Spencer in Lagos, Nigeria for the arrangements to be made. I was then contacted that he would need to be shipped from the United Kingdom, due to the fact there were no direct flights from Nigeria to the USA. I was then told another $450.00 was needed to have the puppies health records updated for the standards of the United Kingdom to ship the puppy. I started to grow very suspicious at this point and kept asking questions why this paper work was so much. Steve Rowland begged and pleaded with me to help him out, how the puppy was his concern and he didn't want him to be quarenteened. I told him I could help him out with $150.00 more dollars. I was then contacted by Steve Rowland that it would now cost an addtional $300.00 to have him shipped from the UK. He promised to pay me back all the addtional money once he was paid on 7-21-09. The puppy was to be delivered to me on 7-15-09. I contacted Steve Rowland asking where the puppy was and what time was he to arrive and so forth. He kept evading the question. He finally emailed me back and said the puppy was at Dulles International Airport.

Then later that day the travel agent Miguel Spencer contacted me and said I needed to pay $450.00 to have him released from Dulles international. I told him I refused to pay any additional money and he hung up on me. I contacted Steve Rowland again through email and wanted all the flight information to verify that the puppy was at Dulles Airport. He kept giving me excuses that I didn't need to worry about that I just needed to get the money so I could get Roy. He would handle the flight information. I then told him I felt that this was an entire scam and demanded my money back. He just kept pleading with me to help him get the $450.00 so he could get Roy to me. I finally Google searched him and found out that all this was a scam and here I am filing my complaint. I have saved every email that we have exchanged all my western union reciepts of money I have sent. I am so upset and I have now spent a total of $800.00 with no puppy. I feel so stupid but I just would now like to get my money back. If there is anything you can do, I would appreciate it.

First, I must say that it completely sucks that you lost your money. However, your tale leads me to believe that you have been living under a rock for the last century. Have you never heard of the Nigerian Scam? Look it up. Its been around in various forms since the 1920s.
