Steve Shafer ripoff, dishonest and took $1000 from me, for a non completed job, and will not pay me back Greentown Pennsylvania
I am writing in reference to Steve Shafer of Dark Star Creations in Greentown, PA. THis man was hired to do a carpet job in my house, which he came to do half back in Sept 03, and in order to do the other half he requested the rest of the money $1034, form me and I foolish paid him. Well after various times of backordering problems with the carpet, and unanwered phone calls he has not come back to do the job and still kept me money. I hacve taken hime to small claims court where judgement was rendered in my favor because he never showed but that is it.
I have a lein on his personal property but this man will still not give me money back and the only last thing I can do i file for sheriff sale for his personal property which he tells me he has nothing and I would have to go and pick up the items, but I just do not want to put myself at risk like that. Are the any other options? Can someone really get away with this?

Picking Up Personal Property

Did you check to see if this person was supposed to be licensed by the state to do this type of work? If not, do so, and file a complaint with the county/state/city regarding the problem. If it comes down to you picking up personal property because you have a ocurt order, contact the police and have them accompany you to do so. NEVER go to do this type of thing without police protection.
