Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Simply stated, Nathan Smith, the manager of Stone House Management, Inc., a property management company that advertises rooms available on craigslist, stole our deposits.

It is a pretty simple bait and swtich that Nathan is running. He advertises property, has vicims (like myself and my friend) provide a security deposit for the room that is available and then takes the money.

Nathan is not very smart. He leaves a pretty exhaustive paper trail and even attempts to act like he is innocent, but in the end it is apparent you will never see the money you are entiteled to. He makes excuses, tries to blame others, and missess appointments where he says you are getting your money back.

He has done this before, I read a very similar article on this site that pretty much sums up his M.O. He operates out of a small office in Brooklyn and has at least two agents working for him that lure people into his scam. The agents change phone numbers and then go off the map. Nathan is the manager and takes the deposits. Then when it comes to sign the lease he gets harder and harder to get in contact with, he repetadly just pushes the date back saying it will be "tomorrow." Then when we finally go to sign the lease it was not what was agreed to. When the deadline to sign the lease passed he promised to return our deposits in 7-10 days but again became hard to contact and did not return our money by the deadline. We are now having to commence a civil lawsuit against him.

We did try to file a police report with the Greenpoint Police Department but because it was only the two of us they said they needed more victims to come forward before they would begin investigating. If Nathan Smith either under Stone House Management Inc, or Bosch has taken your deposit please try to contact us through this report so we can join together in bringing criminal charges against him as well!

Hey fellow victims,

Back in September/October our friend Nathan stole $4600 from me and my roommate.

I have since had him arrested and won a small claims suit against him- of course, he did not show up to court but now I am stuck with a piece of paper stating he owes me legally.

Anyway, I have kept in touch regarding the legal case.  When I had him arrested, I used this website to contact anyone else who had charged to add to his case.  This ended up totaling almost $50,000, (around 20 people came forward with charges) so none of us are going to see any of our money for awhile, or until he comes up with all of it.

I talked to district attorney Joseph DiBenedetto two weeks ago, he is the DA on the case, and the liason between me and Nathan's attorney.  Nathan was supposed to be indicted earlier this month but the DA keeps giving him more time because if they indict him before restitution is met in full, then that's it, none of us will see our money he will just go to jail.

I recommend calling Joseph DiBenedetto yourself if you are already involved in this case. I obviously cannot post his number here, but try calling the 94th precinct NYPD to get his contact info.

I was scammed back in November and took him to small claims that just happened last month and of course he didn't show up. Has anyone heard any more about his arrest and getting money back from the scumbag?

Hi Jones77, I was wondering if you had any more info on the case? I called the offices and they said they weren't able to find the case on the public database but also weren't allowed to tell me if they were handling the case or not (this was a few weeks ago). They recommended I file a complaint form. It would be great if you (and anyone else who has been a victim of this company) could get in touch (here in letters instead of numbers: W1P WW1 0(number not the letter)P0T

I am in the process of taking action, my roommate and I have very undeniable proof that he stole almost $5,000 from us. If he has done this to this number of people, it really can't be ignored.

Thank you very much for responding to our post. Mr. Smith is a career criminal who is made a pattern out of doing this to prospective tenants. This website is not allowing us to give out contact information. my phone number is (((redacted))) My roommate and I are pursuing legal action against Mr. Smith. We contacted the police to no avail. I really hope we can get in touch and work together to stop this man from doing this. Thanka again.
