Let me first start by saying I am generally not one to complain but in this particular situation the company left such a bad taste in my mouth I feel compelled to tell my story.

The company I am talking about is an online ticketing agency called stubdepot.com.  I had used them in the past and had positive dealings and that is why this particular situation was so frustrating to me.

I had used their services to obtain tickets for Bruins playoff tickets and was looking for tickets to Game 7 of the Tampa Bay vs. Bruins series.  The tickets proved to be more money than I wanted to spend and was holding out to get tickets for the Stanley Cup Playoffs if the Bruins were to advance to the next round.

While I was looking for tickets for Game 7 I stumbled upon tickets that were being sold for the Stanley Cup round.  I looked at the prices which still seemed high in my opinion but decided to take a risk and purchased two tickets for Game 3 which would have been a home game for the Bruins if they advanced.

The Bruins eventually did win Game 7 against Tampa Bay and advanced to the next round.  The round in fact that I thought I had purchased tickets for in advance.  I received a receipt from the company (per usual) regarding my order and was waiting delivery of my tickets via email.  They tickets never came so I contacted customer service via email about the issue and their first response was that they "couldn't find" my order.  This of course was a little upsetting so I called the company to see what the issue was.

Once I was finally able to get someone on the phone the attitude that was given to me is mainly the reason why I am posting this complaint.  Instead of getting someone that actually cared about keeping a previous customer happy I was simply given a tough luck attitude.  The person explained that the group/entity that was selling the tickets didn't have them for sale any longer.

Here is where I need to give some background.  I purchased advance seating tickets for a game that may never have happened.  Due to this fact I was purchasing tickets at a reasonable rate because the game may never have been played and that being the case I would be stuck with a credit for the cost of my purchase.  The thing is the Bruins did win and they were advancing.  The price for the tickets I purchased went up 10x after they actually won the game - literally.  So basically this company saw they could make a considerable amount more than what I had paid and simply said too bad the tickets aren't available.

The attitude that a few dollars more for this one set of tickets is simply just bad business.  I felt scammed and wasn't given any options other than purchasing tickets at full value in a far worse location than what I had originally paid for.

They shouldn't be allowed to do this sort of thing, I took a risk buying the tickets in advance and because the ticket company could now sell them for more money they just said tough luck.  If the Bruins had lost that game and I had made my purchase I am pretty sure my order wouldn't have been lost and I would have been stuck with a credit for my purchase to use towards another event.

This is just bad business and the attitude of the owner of the company is what led me to post this.  I am a business person and I simply can't imagine just telling a client too bad.....never offered a solution of getting reasonably priced tickets or anything.  I ended up paying considerably more money than I wanted to because I had purchased the tickets with the intention of taking my son who would have been heartbroken if we couldnt have gone.

Be careful when using this company.  Maybe my situation is isolated and unique given the circumstances but the attitude is what upset me.

In your rebuttal you state that StubDepot does not handle pricing and the pricing is set by the owner of the tickets.  Yet in the paragraph prior, you clearly state that you noticed the price was too low and would not sell them at that price.  If I owned the tickets and I set a price and I had someone willing to purchase my tickets, then I would be upset if you stepped in against your own policy to set the price for my tickets.

You can not have it both ways, you are clearly speaking out of both sides of your mouth.  Now, I would love it if you would write a rebuttal against my complaint.  I have all the text, emails and phone records to document my complaint.  I was charged and I never received my tickets nor my money back and I was treated bad by JP who made it clear he did not care one bit about my situation and then Phil the owner made false claims.  Stay far, far away from this company.

I have dealt with  Phil and JP at stubdepot.com since 2006 I never had a problem. I googled stubdepot to buy tickets and was surprised to see this come up.

All I can say is I have bought tickets from Stubhub, Ebay, craigslist, and Phil and JP always help me if I find tickets cheaper they usually beat it. When I have found them cheaper and they could not beat it they explained why.

anyway I was surprised by the comments of this person. Sounds like he was trying to get something for less than he should have.

Stub Depot LLC Fires Back with the Truth

#5REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, January 30, 2012

True, an order was placed online on June 27, 2011 for 2 tickets for the NHL Stanley Cup Finals: Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks Home Game 1 June 6, 2011. But, the request for tickets was rejected by Stubdepot on the same day and the client was personally contacted. His credit card was never charged.

The order was rejected because, based on our experience, we suspected that there was a pricing error.  We knew that club tickets for an essentially sold out event would never be priced at $270/ticket. In fact the tickets were incorrectly priced by the original owner, a fact that took a few more days to determine.

As clearly stated in our general policy on our web page: We reserve the right to cancel an order and give a full refund at any time, for any reason whatsoever. Our role in the world of tickets is summed up in the first sentence that is read by every customer before checkout. It says: Stubdepot acts as an intermediary between buyers and ticket brokers to facilitate the purchase and sale of event tickets and as such, is not directly involved in the actual ticket sale transaction between the buyers and ticket brokers. So pricing is not determined by Stubdepot, but by the third party ticket owner. Stubdepot did not own the tickets.
