Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This is the second complex I have lived in that utilized Studebaker as it's water/sewer billing company. In the first one, the bills were fairly consistent for a 1 person unit ($35-$40/month). We moved across the street and the usage actually went down (no dishwasher) and our bill somehow jumped to $100 a month! Management was made aware and said they would look into it. That was 9 months ago. In that time, Studebaker pressured management (Bozzuto) to pay the erroneous bill and tack into our rent, which they did. I have disputed this for months and am furious at the lack of communication.

Bozzuto and Studebaker both came to inspect our pipes and the meter and determined that there was no leak and that the meter is in fact broken. That was 2 months ago. The technician said that our bill would be retroactively corrected. Nothing happened.  Last two bills were still around $95 a month.

I called today and spoke with Val who was remarkably unhelpful. She said that "Dan" would get back to me but would not provide  a last name, last initial or an ID number.  I informed her that I was considering filing a lawsuit due to the incorrect bill, late fees and distress as I am disabled and on a fixed income.

I should also mention that every other resident that I have spoken to in our building reports the same (about 12 people) with one resident traveling for an entire month and returning to a $70 bill for an empty apartment!  In her case, Studebaker also would not adjust her bill. No idea who used water when she wasn't there.

This company is a scam, installed broken meters and bills recklessly with no regard for how they are bilking their customers. Even when their own technicians are made aware of broken meters, nothing happens.

I am moving out and one of the first questions I will ask at future complexes is who they use for water metering. If it is Studebaker, I will not rent. Absolutely despicable company.
