Advertisments are saying Veterans can get a free 6 inch sub at subway restaurants.  This is false!

Subway is taking advantage of Veterans Day to get free publicity and then not coming through with its offer to veterans.  This makes it look like a deceitful advertising progam.

Subway's free sandwich for veterans is a VERY limited offer at only a few participating restaurants in only a few locations.  They fail to mention this and hide this behind a statement that it is only available from participating shops even though it is only available in very few places.

Advertisments are saying Veterans can get a free 6 inch sub at subway restaurants. They do not mention the limited availability.

Unaware of this, I visited 2 subway shops in the area and was told they would not honor the promotion. I called 4 others in the area and was told the same.

I called corporate headquarters and was told it was only available at participating subway stores in certain cities.  Only 2 cities in Florida  (orlanda and one other).

This limitation on the offer is not communicated when they advertise their support for Veterans and it comes across as telling half truths to get the publicity!

Same thing happened to me ln Plymouth, MA- called three stores who all said they were not honoring the Vet deal. Called Customer Service- had to leave a message- 4 weeks now and have not heard ;back from them- taht is the end of my patronizing Subway's.

I am very sorry for your experiance with SUBWAY. I will inform you of the lesser known hush hush side of things. From what we were told at our franchise was one franchise owner desided to offer a free 6 inch to veterans on veterans day. He passed out flyers saying that local veterans with their veterans ID's could show them and recieve a free 6 inch. What the flyers did not say was that this was only an offer valid at his franchise. This information was leaked onto the internet and later the USO sent an email of a list of places you could receive something and SUBWAY was on that list.

Now a little bit about SUBWAY corprate. They are the ONLY one that can offer a promotion, because they will take the loss from the royaltys that are paid on every sandwich. They account for promotional losses and franchise owners have little more to do than hang up the latest poster in the windows. That also means when you use the SUBWAY name for a non-corprate promotion you will be immediatly stripped of your franchise license.

Now the day before veterans day the corprate office called every franchise owner in the country and said you have the option to honor this rumor or turn it away but the loss comes from your pocket. So some did some didnt.

Very sorry to hear you where turned away. Our franchise gave out 311 free six inches coming to a grand total of $1600.

I hope you understand This was an awful rumor gone wild. but lets hope subway corprate will see the success of this and will authorise this promotion next year
