Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We stayed in the campground for our daughters wedding on 8/6/10 through 8/8/10.  We did not choose the location, but since our daughter was getting married there and we live over 3.5 hours away, we decided to stay in one of the trailers the campground had to offer ( during all of this my daughter also had several friends and family who rented campsites for  the  weekend, 22 campsites to be exact).  Our neighbors who were going up to the wedding and helping us set up and cook, we booked into the other trailer.  BTW these trailers cost 70.00 per night and everything you do there is ala carte.  2 weeks before the wedding we called and told the woman Marilin on the phone we would need 25 bags of ice and to make sure the trailers were ready to go and the campsite prepared for a weekend of celebration.  A CC was placed on deposit and we were all set.  Well the wedding day, went OK, with the exception of when I inquired about some more bags of ice, I was told I needed to not use so much, it is needed for other campers.  Well since I reserved 25, and had only used 12, what could be the issue.  Oh well, blow that off and get to the wedding.  I had 70 lbs of prime rib, turkey and pork loin to cook.  All of the workers including the owners ended up in the serving line, maybe 4 - 6 people, but what the heck, if they treat me right, I will treat them right.  One of the owners took my wife to the trailer and trained her on flushing the toilet.  For those of you who don't know, in a trailer, you have to flush/rinse then fill with water.  I did not get to the trailers, with my neighbors till well after dark, maybe 10 PM.  My wife stayed and cleaned up after 100 people.  Well at first impression, ok, a little expensive, but what the heck.  The one we stayed in was a little musty and needed a good cleaning, but ok.  The one my neighbors were staying in, was about the same, but a large piece of plywood under the bed, covering a hole in the floor.  Not attached, but cut and placed over it and you could still see light.  My wife and 2 grandbabies, 3 & 4 were down for the night.  During the next 2 days, it was like Children of the Corn.  The trailer had a septic leak underneath and every  10 min or so, you received a real nice Whiff.  Early the first morning my neighbors were up at 6, wanted no breakfast or coffee and said they needed to go to another function.  (later they said it was full of bugs, dirty and you could hear critters in the walls and cabinets)  Well they left.  Now my daughter (not the one who was married, the other one) said she would like to use it, with her husband and did not care.  Since I did not want to start trouble, I just accepted what was going on.  Please remember that my new Son-in-Law, had been going there for years and has a permanent campsite, so I did not want start out with the campground thinking the brides side of the family was causing problems.  Saturday Night they had a chicken BBQ.  $10 a person, so we took 4 tickets and went (only to find out as we were sitting down you had to supply your own dishes- utensils- napkins and drinks ).  You could not believe it, they took the chicken out of a large pan, with their bare hands and put on your plate!!  No glove!  No tongs! Forks, Spoons NOTHING!!  They even switched out a persons food on the plate while were standing there (still not to cause problems for our kids we remained silent and said nothing to anyone).  Well we did not eat any of that chicken. Then after we decided to use the campfire behind our trailer.  I thought that was ok since it already had some wood by it, maybe 40 or 50 small pieces.  Had the fire, marshmallows and the babies had fun.  At the end when there were maybe 10 or 15 pieces left, I told my daughter she could take to her camp, we were not going to use it.  Then some guy from the trailer across the way came over and asked WTF we were doing, stealing from his friend?  Scared the babies to death, my wife told him to stop and go back to his trailer she did not appreciate him coming over and yelling like a jerk with her babies present and he wouldnt like it either) so just leave, since we had asked for  wood to be delivered so we could have a bonfire .  We were all scratching our heads, we thought since the pit and wood was behind our trailer it was ours since we had asked for it..(we did not know  this wasnt our pit or woodthe space between our trailers was a seasonal spot belonging to someone else).  OK now we are getting pissed.  Spending hundreds of dollars in trailers, food, activities and getting treated rude.  Well we also had to remember that our Son-in-Law had a relationship there and we did not want to cause problems.  We decided to deal with it after.  When checking out, the little store had 4 or 5 people in it, so I thought now is not the time to complain about the service and trailers.

I said to Marilin, that I used the wood by my campsite and need to replace it if she could use the wood I asked  for when I arrived... She said well for one thing Mr.  Deans  you dont have a campsite, you mean you used someone elses wood?  She was king of joking.  I said, well yes, I guess.  She said dont worry about it.  So I just signed the CC slip for the ice the wonderful  chicken BBQ and stuff we used,  another 100 dollars, tucked in my tail and left.

When home, I received a call the next day at work, it was Marilin yelling at me and telling me I trashed the place, stole wood and messed up campground.  I thought she must be using drugs.  But calling me a thief after I just spent hundreds of dollars irritated me so at that time I told her about the trailers, bugs, critters and wow, she just exploded.  Said she was charging my CC additional money and I told her I will not authorize anything and then she hung up.

Now I am disputing with the card company the trailers and this new charge.  MY RECOMMENDATION IS NEVER GO THERE.  THE PEOPLE ARE RUDE, DIRTY AND TREAT GUEST LIKE GARBAGE!!!

Thu, September 23, 2010

On 9/22/10 we received a full refund and apology from the campground.  They insist we can visit again and we will not find these same conditions.

We appreciate their actions and will try them again in the future.

They have made good on their promises.
