To anyone who is thinking about using this company please read this first,

I wanted to refinance my home to lower my intrest rate. After applying on-line Surepoint lending contacted me. They told me that I was approved for a loan that would lower my rate 3 points. Over the next week and a half I sent Surepoint all the documents they needed and paid out of pocket for an appraisal. Then Surepoint told me that it would be 8 to 10 days to the closing. About 2 1/2 weeks later I still had not closed.

It was the end of the month and my current mortgage was due and Surepoint told me to not make the payment because it would mess up the payoff and then it would cost ME more to get another one. They assured me that we would be closing on the loan in the next few days. I contacted my current mortgage company and told them what was going on and they told me that they understood and that it was fine if we were going to be closing on the new loan soon.

Surepoint strung me along for the next two months asking me to jump through hoop after hoop. During this time they wanted me to sign more papers because they said that the first ones were not right. When I got the new papers the rate was changed and the closing cost were more. I called them to find out why and they told me that it must have been a missprint. They assured me that the original rate and closing cost was what I was going to pay. I then received a cancelation notice from my home owners insuance company.

When I called my agent she told me that Surepoint had changed my mortgage to get paid through there escrow and it wasn't paying. She also told me that Surepoint changed my lean holder to them instead of my current mortgage company. She told me that she had the paper that I signed at closing when I refinanced with them. I told her that I did not yet close on this loan and to change everything back to the other mortgage company.

My insurance company warned me about this company because they had to of done something very wrong. I then called Surpoint to find out why they changed my insurance and they told me that they had to so the loan would go through. I told them that the insurance company told me that it would only be done at closing. I told them that I changed all my information back to the way it was before.

Finally after over 2 months they now tell me that I was not approved for the loan because of the payment that they told me not to make! Now I am out $250 for an appraisal that I still do not have a copy of! This company is not right!! Please do not use them for anything!!!! They will lie to you and try to screw you!!!

As a mortgage broker, I can tell you that refinancing a home with the mortgage market the way it is can be very difficult. Brokers and loan officers want to get your loan approved, however, we sometimes have to jump through hoops. Now, if they did tell you not to make your mortgage payment, I agree, that is not right. But changing the mortgagee clause is standard in the industry, not matter which lender you choose. My guess would be that you would have had to "jump through hoops" with anyone just as we have to "jump though hoops" to get your loan approved. I agree, the entire process can be stressful and frustrating. The good thing is you got it done, when many people out there cannot. Count your blessings!

Jonathon, I investigated your complaint, and discussed the file with your loan advisor. Due to confidentiality, I can't go into detail on the loan process, but your loan was still active in the underwriting process when you posted your complaint. Your loan has since been closed and funded with SurePoint Lending. It seems as though your issues have been settled, but if you still have concerns, please contact our Customer Care Department. Regarding your complaint on your payment, the loan advisor states you did not make your mortgage payment by choice so you would not have to pay for an updated payoff from your previous mortgage holder (they charged a fee of $20). It is a practice of ours not to advise our customers to skip any payments due. In response to your complaint on your Homeowner's Insurance changing from your previous mortgage holder to SurePoint Lending, that is correct. The mortgagee clause on your homeowner's insurance must be changed to the new lender's name prior to closing and for final underwriting approval on the loan. Thanks for the feedback. Please let me know if you need further help. We are always happy to address any customer concerns. Customer Care 866-249-9385
