Sushi Roku in newport beach has alot of great things going for it like great chefs and a mostly friendly staff one of the drawbacks is the general manager Eiji Mori and his crony managers working under him. There are women who has been working for over a year at the resteraunt only to be passed over for open management positions by asian males who just started working there. Thats because GM Eiji Mori is a sexist, misogynist and a bigot who only gives management positions to people who like himself are asian males. Walk into the resteraunt on any busy night and you'll see twelve female servers being bossed around by four asian males to make matters worse Eiji and his crony managers take a big chunk of the tips for basically doing nothing. Not only that but the managers harass the waitresses every shift and get away with it because Eiji believes if your asian and male you dont have to be accountable for your actions. Several of my friends who were waitresses at sushi roku newport beach left because of harassment from managers ontop of getting ripped off for their work. Also out of the entire staff who are mostly great people there is a redneck racist server as well as another who now works for nobu so dont come to roku if you or your friends are black, hispanic or jewish. The managers dont care if your being harassed by offensive racist remarks but they do if you post on yelp about it. If you do that they'll ban you for life.

It is illegal for managers or owners to take tips from the servers.  All servers need to band together and go to the Labor Board and file a complaint with the Attorney General's office to get reimbursement.  Past servers who had their tips taken can get reimbursed as well.  Do it as a group.  The law will punish this restaurant, if this truly has been going on.
