Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was told I would be paid a certain amount, run in a certain area and get a certain amount of miles. After runing night and day for three months (six weeks with a trainer) I was exausted and needed a break. After trying for several weeks to get what I was promised I had made up my mind to quit when I got to the Memphis terminal. When I got in the Female Safety person told me to do a random drug test and I told her I was quitting. She blew up and I did too, words were exchanged and she said she would DAC me and I would never get another trucking job again. I quit Swift, not the other way around. I did not refuse a drug test, I had already quit. As for drug paraphenalia being found in the truck, I don't know anything about that. I changed trucks all the time. This is a bad company to work for and they will mess you up if you don't kill yourself working for them. BEWARE!!!!

Big deal, so you don't get to drive trucks anymore. That's like being banned from working in the sewer.

The ex-swift driver here made mistakes. One was failing to take a random drug test. It doesn't matter if you quit or not, once the test is assigned, you take it. If you're clean, what do have to lose? You can quit after the drug test. What does it take? An hour, tops. Piss in the cup, and then quit. And, if you're dirty nobody wants you on the road anyway, truckers or four wheelers. Driving trucks doesn't pay much for all the work you have to do. The job is dangerous too. Even if you're the best driver out there, you never know about the other people on the road. A big SUV can come right through the cab and injure you badly. A semi driven by a rookie can end your life in 10 seconds. Your safety depends on the abilities of others on the road with you. There are much easier ways to make a living. Instead of working 100 hours, you can stick with 40 like everyone else. You can have a life besides steering some truck across I/80. People who drive trucks live to work, not the other way around. And, after 20 years of that, what do they have to show for it? A heart attack and an early death from all the stress. Sound like fun? Being a truck driver is not much better than being a sewer worker. Somebody has to move all the s**t. But, it doesn't have to be you!

You Blackballed yourself...

Robert, If what you posted is correct and the timeline as stated, then the truth is you blackballed yourself. Under DOT policy once a driver has been notified that they are due for a random drug or alchohol screening the clock starts ticking for you to provide a sample, the DOT rules clearly state that a driver once notified must comply, NO EXCEPTIONS!!! If you refuse the company under DOT regulations MUST notify the DOT that you have failed the test. You see the DOT rules clearly state there are only two out comes of a screening. Positve or Negative an refusal to take a screening is a Positive result. No matter how you explain to another company it will be on your DAC report that you have failed a DOT drug screening. The only way to get passed this is to contact your local DOT office and ask about the drug and alchohol rehabilitaion training for drivers. You can take this cousre and have the Positive result annotated on your DAC report that you have taken and passed the traing. Even if you take it and pass does not guarantee you a job but under DOT regulations it does guarantee a future company may not use the Positive drug screen and a basis to deny you emplyement. Hope this helps, I know it seems bleak but you have options.
