Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I'm writing this post in the hopes that you, unlike me, googled this woman's name before handing over cash, possessions, and peace of mind. After finding this report and reading over what others had posted - stories that sounded so close to mine it was heartbreaking - I have come to regard this woman as a scam artist.

Like other reportees, I was told:

- A curse had befallen my family

- Tammy worked with monks and medicine men to remove the curse (in some cases the items were "too tainted" to be returned)

- The cleansing process required items, usually jewelry, made of 14k gold for the cleansing process

- The cleansing process required items from the "source" of the curse

- I needed to purchase special protective stones

- I needed to purchase additional and more expensive protective stones (which I was instructed not to tell anyone about - that should have been a red flag right there)

These are the things I experienced:

- Tammy switched numbers frequently, moved around often, and was generally difficult to get in contact with

- For the next year Tammy asked for monetary "supplements" to buy things for the cleansing she was supposed to be performing

- Inquiries about when she was planning to mail things back were met with excuses that ranged from not being in town to emergency surgery to the deaths of people close to her

- Other than a box of relatively worthless possessions, I didn't get any of my jewelry back

The bonus of this has been the deterioration of my faith. I know that spirituality isn't common and is often thought of as "New Age", which might actually be part of the reason she preys on people like me. If I tell people what happened, I am met with scorn, ridicule, or a combination of both...so I don't. If I go to the police, they will ask why I didn't get the planned return of my things in writing. "Because I trusted this person" is not a valid excuse. Imagine if your pastor was stealing from the collection plate; wouldn't you question your beliefs if the person who was supposed to be acting as your spiritual guide screwed you over for monetary gain?

Matters of faith are hard to gauge, and I do believe there are legitimate spiritual advisers out there, but Tammy Yoka is not one of them. My best advice is to trust your instincts - if I'd listened to mine, I wouldn't be out almost $1,000 and several pieces of my best jewelry.

I rented my home to her, her son and daughter-in-law in Columbus, Ga. I had a feeling at the time she was up to something like this and yes, she is a gypsy. They go back and forth from AZ, CA, GA and FL. Her son is currently locked up in south Florida so I suspect that she is down in that area. Look up her son Adam Uwanawhich "sonny" and it may help you find her.
