I purchased 4 seasons of "The Golden Girls" on DVD yesterday at the Target store in Hermitage, TN while on my way home from work. When I got home, I opened season 1 and one of the DVDs was missing. It was supposed to be a 3 DVD set and disc 1 was not in the case. I drove 30 min back to the store to exchange it, only to find that they had no more of it.

Tonight I drove 15 min to the store at Rivergate in Goodlettsville, since I live near there. Once again, there were no copies to be found (actually not one single season of the 7 seasons was in stock). I was told by the service desk that I would have to go to another store, that they could not do anything there for me. I was told that the closest store that had a copy was Mt. Juliet, which was yet another 15 min from me. I advised the clerk that I was not going to drive to another store for a DVD that cost me $8.99. She again told me there was nothing she could do for me. I asked for a manager and a snotty young female named Rachel came up after I waited nearly 10 min for her to get to me.

Rachel treated me as a criminal. She told me that she would not refund my money, that the only choice I had was to drive to another store. I informed her that I was not going to do that, that I had already gone to 2 stores and wasted 1 1/2 hours already on this driving back & forth from their stores. I know each store in that area uses the same supplier and one can return it to them just as well as another. She again told me she was NOT doing anything for me and that I could go to another store or keep the incomplete set. I stated that this is a product that Target is selling, it is not as described, and I wanted a refund. She refused and told me that people "take" discs all the time and claim they were missing, which in essence was calling me a thief. Why would I need ONE disc from a 3 disc set?

I informed her that I wanted the number to corporate. She wrote a number down that I have tried to call and it is incorrect. She handed me my DVDs back, which I left at the store as they are useless to me since they are an incomplete set. Target got $9.00 off of me for nothing, and lost a weekly customer in the process. I am in the store at LEAST once a week, and usually spend an average of $100 a week in there. That will NEVER happen again. I had intentions on spending at least $100 in there tonight, but instead I went to Wal-Mart, where I am not treated as a criminal and they at least appreciate a customer.

I have never been treated so poorly as I was in this store tonight.

This is horrible that in these economic times that a store will turn away a loyal customer, and cost the customer in the process.

I will NEVER set foot in Target again. There are far too many other stores that will value my business and not treat me like dirt in the process of it.

The issue here is not that your a theif, its due to COPYRIGHT LAWS in which all retailers abide by. There is absolutly nothing you can do but sit back and wait until the store has it in stock. The best thing you can do is to CALL AHEAD OF TIME!!! Target will allow you to put an item on hold for 24hours so you can take advantage of that, dont drive around aimlously from store to store guest service can check stock in other stores and call and have them put it on hold for you ahead of time.

I find it hilarious when people say that they will never come back and a they lost your 100bucks a week. You will be back no one likes walmart and your target probaly pulls in 100k a day.

Ok, you asked "Why would I need ONE disc from a 3 disc set? "

Easy.

Because if you do it three times are three different stores and take a different disk each time, you get a complete box set for free.

That answer your question?

By the way, I wouldn't publicly admit to purchasing a Golden Girls DVD. That's just weird.

return policy

their return policy is quite clear:

No refunds on opened DVDs only exchange for exact same product. You will just have to wait until they get more in stock.

Why are you special that you get an exception to their policy?
