Yes, it was an error on Target's fault. No doubt about that. However, they posted the sign in their store and it had been there at least one day prior to my incident--based on comments from the Customer Service desk. And regardless of whether or not it was a pricing error, it was a price posted in their store for a specific (pictured) item at a specific price. No stipulations, no limits--just a price and a picture. Some states, such as Texas, legally require the retailer to honor the posted price. Unfortunately, Nebraska has no such law in place.
Based on the facts of this incident, the Office of the Attorney General in Nebraska has, indeed, opted to pursue this with the Target store on my behalf. And the Target store has not even bothered to respond to their official inquiries at this juncture.
I'm a calm, easy-going person. I've rarely been as angered as I was when I left the Target store that day, based on the treatment I received by their employees. On the basis of this incident alone, I will never use a Target store again and actively dissuade anyone who will listen from using Target.
...Or would you prefer to shop at a store where they can point to ANY sale item and simply say "it was a pricing mistake" and refuse to honor the sale? It's a lack of principle on the part of the retailer and one that I cannot and shall not tolerate.

That card was an error. I was able to get a supervisor to do an override and sell me a card for that price and so were a lot of other people but Target also had the right to refuse this deal. Check their policy regarding mispriced items.
I don't blame you for being annoyed but I doubt you'll get far with the Attorney General.
