I am an unemployed individual who saw an ad on TV for tax relief from Tax Network USA.  I stupidly called the number and my first contact was with Claudia Cartier on May 2, 2011.

We spoke about the tax issues I was having and she assured me that they could help me with a plea and compromise with the IRS.  I gave her all the necessary information and May 3, 2011 I received my first email with attachments of forms for me to sign and fax back.

I was quoted a fee of $1,900.00, which I thought was high, but at the time I was receiving unemployment and was able to withdraw from my retirement to pay them in installments of $300-350 a month until paid in full.  They wanted payment in full before they would start to work my case.

They only time I was ever called was when it was time for money to be paid.  I was calling on a regular basis for updates and not once was I ever updated.  I started to do research on tax network and found many complaints from clients, whose claims were that tax network usa never helped them and how they were experiencing no return calls, etc.

I decided to call tax network usa to ask them about all the compaints, by this time I had paid them a whopping $1,550.00.  They assured me that the complainers were clients that had an excessive amount of assets and I was not in that catergory.

I explained that I was stepping out on a limb by withdrawing money from my IRA to pay them and that the money I had paid thus far was a lot of money to me and I could not afford to pay them and turn around pay the IRS a great deal of money, by no means am I rich or loaded.  Once again they assured  me that they would/could help me.

I explained that I did not feel comfortable paying them the remaining $350.00 until I could see some progress with my issues and I was told that it was understandable and someone would call me with an update.  Never got a call from anyone. When you call them, you never get the same person or the previous person does not work there anymore.

Today is December 21, 2011 and I received a letter from Jessica Figueroa stating that it served as a notice of termination of services with Tax Network USA (TNU).  "If representation is important to you, we must be contacted within 72 hours and a payment schedule established.  Please contact me within the listed time frame so TNU may reinstate your tax liability case."

I called Jessica Figueroa at number given and she informed me that in order for me to be reinstated I would have to pay her $400.00 today to be reinstated and arrangements made for the remaining $350.00.  As I told her, I do not have $400.00 laying around to give them.

I am no longer receiving unemployment and the little bit that I do have is meant to keep a roof over my head and food in the house.  She informed me that unless they get $750.00 they will no longer handle my case.

I have paid them $1,550.00 and now they are telling me that TNU is forced to discontinue representing me in my tax liability case.

They have forced me between a rock and hard place.  I need some help either getting my money back or advice who to call for HELP!

Failure to meet contractual obligation

Tue, January 31, 2012

The consumer contracted Tax Network on May 10, 2011 to resolve her tax liability.  On May 11, 2011 one of the professionals at Tax Network contacted the IRS and performed a complete tax compliance evaluation as well as ordered the consumer's master file.  We found that the consumer owed $507.24 for tax year 2008 and was un-filed for tax years 2009 and 2010.

On May 24, 2011, the consumer submitted the financial questionnaire to Tax Network.  On May 25, 2011, one of our licensed tax professionals prepared a financial analysis (IRS form 433-A) which lists the consumer's income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.  This document is crucial in negotiating with the IRS.  It was mailed out the same day.

A licensed tax professional also prepared the consumer's 2009 and 2010 tax returns and mailed it to her.  Tax Network did not receive signed copies of these returns which were requested.  We are also unaware if the consumer mailed the tax returns to the IRS.

The consumer failed to make her payment on June 28, 2011 after receiving the financial analysis and two years of tax returns.

The contract that the consumer signed clearly states that failure to make agreed upon payments would terminate the working relationship.

Tax Network performed to its contractual obligation.  Unfortunately, the consumer failed to meet her end.
