I ordered High Definition Direct TV service in January 2003 from 1-800-technostores. At first, I was told by Jeff, the apparent owner, not to bother with HDTV. In questioning him, I realized that he and some of his staff who were present had little understanding of the technology they were selling.

I went ahead with the order. At the time I ordered I was assured that I would receive a full refund if the system was not installed. In February, they were supposed to come for the install and never showed up. The install was rescheduled for March, but I asked that the charge against my credit card be removed until the actual install was performed.

This was agreed to. Over the next few weeks I called about the fact that the charge was not removed and was at first told to be patient and then eventually told rudely it would not be removed. I cancelled my order at that point. I was told I would receive a refund. Later, I received a voicemail indicating there would be a "restocking charge" of over 100 dollars.

This was a surprise as I had been told that I would receive a full refund. In further discussions with Jeff he was usually rude. Eventually in frustration I agreed to this refund in late February.

It took until the end of May to actually get the now agreed upon refund. In the meantime, I was told more than half a dozen times that the refund would be done "in a few days" or "today" and it never happened. I was also passed around from person to person, with each one indicating someone else would deal with it. It was very frustrating and again, at most points, Jeff was rude, even to the point of hanging up a few times.

I recommend avoiding business with Technostores as it is an unprofessonal and disorganized organization, which may be very difficult with refunds.

For the "CEO"

It seems to me that the "CEO" of such an established company would have a strong grasp on grammar and spelling. And...Learn how to turn the CAPS OFF. It is very hard to read and is considered SHOUTING on the internet. I have dealt with your kind before. An answer for everything, but keeping customer loyalty means nothing.

INTERSETING REMARKS BY THIS CONSUMER. DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE WAS TOLD THAT AT THAT PONT THE HD SYSTEM WAS A SPECIAL ORDER AND NO RETURNABLE. ONCE THE INSTALLATION WAS INCOMPLETE HE WAS TOLD THAT HE WOULD EITHER KEEP THE UNIT OR WAIT UNTIL IT WAS SOLD TO OBTAIN AREFUND AS WE COULD NOT RETURN IT TO THE FACTORY FOR CREDIT. LUCKILY WAS SOLD IT AGAIN AND INSTALLED IT, A REFUND WAS ISSUED. WE HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 19 YEARS. THAT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE IF WE ACTED AS STATED. I WILL NOT DIGNIFY TESE REMARKS ANY FURTHER THEY ARE NOT WORTHY.
