I responded to an advertisement saying the US Postal Service was hiring now. The ad did NOT specify that the company that placed the ad was not affilliated with the USPS.

When I called to ask about positions, the woman at Testing Authority Inc told me I would need to spend around $150 for testing materials in order to apply for the postal battery exam. NOWHERE during the conversation did she state that they were not affiliated with the USPS.

Only AFTER I paid for the expensive materials and they came in did I find out they were not affiliated with the USPS.

The test prep materials came with a form stating that I could not get a refund until one year had passed without the USPS not hiring, and it stated that "this was outlined when you placed your order." Again, NOWHERE in the conversation did the sales rep tell me anything about this. She told me I could get a refund when I asked, but did NOT mention ANY of the limited circumstances that one could get a refund under.

So now I am stuck with expensive and unnecessary prep materials and no job openings because of their misleading advertising and failure to disclose the refund policy by the salesperson.

I tried calling to request a refund anyway, but the only customer service number they gave me is now suspiciously inactive. I have heard from several people that they have changed company names and now go under the name

United Testing and Education Center (UTEC). I visited the website and it featured a spiel selling the exact same testing guide. I have tried calling to get a refund but have not managed to get a live person on the line. I will continue to try.

And for anybody that reads this, please don't spend your money on any product from this company. The real USPS even went as far as calling this company a scam when I called them to ask about it.

If anybody from this company has the nerve to file a rebuttal, there's nothing you can say to defend the incompetent salesperson that failed to disclose the refund policy with me OR the false advertising that failed to state before I bought the product that you aren't affiliated with the USPS. This was the fault of the salesperson, not mine, and I don't deserve to be penalized by being denied a refund because of it!
