Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I totalled my car so was looking for a new one. I found a Hyundai Sonata on the internet that I was interested in, but it was 11/2 to 2 hours away (depending on the time of day) so I called the dealer, Texas Auto. I explained that I was interested but didn't want to drive all the way down to Texas Auto in Webster TX from the west side of Katy TX and have the car not be there.

The Texas Auto sales guy said he would hold it for me for a $500 deposit on my credit card, and if I decided i didn't want the car Texas Auto would refund it. So I gave him my credit card information. I drove 1 1/2 hours to Texas Auto in Webster but the sales guy was not available so I roamed the lot until I found the car. It was OK but the under carriage had some scraps that concerned me, nut it was otherwise OK.  I left wothout talking to the sale person because I wasn't going to get my settlement check for two days. The next morning I got a call from my insurance company with a delay on getting the settlement check on my totalled Hyundai.  I called Texas Auto to let them know that I wouldn't have the settlement for an unknown amount of time, and I really didn't feel good about the Sonata. I asked them to refund the deposit.

The sales guy very nervously said, we can hold the car until you get the check from the insurance company. I told him I didn't know when that would be, and I was not sure about the car and don't want to commit to it until I have had it checked out, I don't want to drive clear down to Texas Auto in Webster to have the car inspected by my mechanic until I have the money ready to buy the car.  He then dropped the bomb. We can't refund your money but you can get another car if you are worried about the Sonata. Then I got pissed.

I said I don't want the car and you said if I didn't want it you would refund the deposit. At that point I told him I wouldn't buy any car from them. I will not be ripped off or cohersed into buying a car from anyone.  This is worse than the stories og car salesmen throwing customers trade-in keys on the roof so they couldn't leave until they signed.

Warning. Do not do business with Texas Auto. Texas Auto lied and cheated me out of $500. If they will do this to me they will do anything to anyone. Texas Auto ripoff.
