I placed an order on 1/16/2010 for a couple of knives.  Then, later that day, I decided to place another order after perusing their site further.  2 days later, I received about 10 emails stating that particular items on each order were back ordered.  Oh well, I thought.

One week later, I placed another order for an item, and received an email the next day saying it was preparing for shipment.  In the meantime, I had found other websites that had the items on back order for similar prices.  I sent an email on 1/23/2010 requesting cancellation of the other orders and figured I'd order those items from another website.  Just to double check that the orders were canceled, I made a follow up call on 1/25/2010.  I actually received an email that day that the orders were canceled and that the charge back to my credit card would appear within 15 business days.  I had no problems reaching customer service on the phone and the man I talked to also said my cards would be refunded.

The item I purchased that said 'pending shipment' actually arrived within 4 days and I'm completely happy with it.  The day it arrived, my account still said 'pending shipment'.  Rather odd I thought.  I kept checking my credit card online but the charge backs never appeared.  After waiting the full 15 business days (2/16/2010), I started scrutinizing them on the web and unwittingly found an avalanche of terrible reviews by people saying they were never refunded their money for canceled orders, given endless run arounds, and then finally being completely ignored.  Great, thought I.

I promptly wrote an email to them saying that the 15 business days were up and that I expected my refund.  They actually wrote back (2/17/2010) apologizing for the delay saying it should be there any day.  After seeing all the negative reviews, I said the heck with this noise!  I called my credit card company and told them what was going on.  They immediately issued a credit to my account for the orders. 

What happens now is that they will demand the refund from The Blade Shop, whom as far as I know, can dispute my dispute!  However, since I do have the emails of them promising the refunds and the cancellation of the orders, I'm pretty certain they will lose.  If I don't post another complaint within 90 days, then they lost.

I had ordered from The Blade Shop a few years ago and I remembered getting my order lightning fast, so that's why I ordered again.  I was a bit surprised when I saw all the negative reviews and rather than let this happen to me, I'm going to try to nip it in the bud.  They really do have some sort of inventory, so for those who think it's a total scam, it's not.  Just part scam!

Regardless, at this point, I don't think I can take any legal action against them, which is virtually impossible since I'm in a different state.  I will most likely file an official complaint though.  They will have my money only over my dead body!

Stay far, far, far away from these people!  There are other very good, reputable websites for knives.  Look around a little first!
