The College Network misrepresents its status as an academic institution when its agents enroll prospective students. They are targeting nontraditional students eager to return to school to hone in their skills or to learn new skills as they seek to change professional careers.

They are simply a third party that forwards your documents to the school of your choice. They charge you a hefty fee simply for that purpose. Furthermore, they fail to inform you about the deadline to withdraw, and still apply for a loan on your behalf to a credit union, gets paid and you are stuck with a bill even before making a firm decision to attend that school, or to return to school.

It is a FRAUD, a SCAM targeting a specific segment of the population.

They have an agent by the name of Gary, in the Houston area. Beware of him, and all of them.

Thanks.

Dear Taiwo, I am unable to locate your account with the information provided in your complaint, but would be more than happy to speak to you if you would like to call me at 1-800-634-1443. To address your concerns, I will state that we do not represent ourselves as an academic institution. Our paperwork states that we are an educational services company that provides material and support services to assist our customers in obtaining degrees. We do partner with some colleges and universities to bring unique offerings to non-traditional students. In terms of the financing. I would not say that we sign you up for a loan. You complete a loan application (clearly labeled) and you apply for credit to make your purchase. The cancellation period that you state we fail to inform you of is on the form titled "purchase agreement." It is located in bold print directly above where you signed. If you need a copy of your paperwork to confirm this information, please feel free to call me. I hope I have addressed your concerns and look forward to speaking with you. Sincerely, Rick
