This woman called my home and told me that she was calling in reference to my daughter(she said her name). She went on saying that their company provided a software containing lessons that would help my daughter pass the SAT test for college.

Since she called my daughter by name, I wrongfully assumed that they were referred by the school ( I didn't ask how they've got her name), so I stopped what I was doing to listen.

I gave her my credit card number and purchased their software that was supposed to bring me a list of scholarships sites monthly for $49,00, which I could cancel within the first month without being charged.

After two weeks that I received the product I decided to call and cancel the receiving of the scholarship list; after many many times trying I realize that they were unreachable, so I decided to check the software and found out that it didn't countain any lesson just tips to pass the test.

I realized than that I was in trouble and surfing the internet, I found this site with other cases of ripoffs by this company. I could never get in touch with them; it is always a recorder. I have left many messages with no answer.

I lost $ 116,00 and am afraid that this people attempt to charge me any further.

I am Lori, the current Dispute manager for The College Prep Center Inc., and would like to address the concerns of Silvania. On July 20, 2007 she was contacted by one of our Educational Counselors. Silvania is correct that our software does not contain lessons for the ACT/SAT tests. What they do provide is a tutorial for the students to assist them in their SAT and ACT testing. She was wondering how we knew her daughter's name; College bound high school students fill out forms of interest; which includes having an interest in taking the SAT and ACT tests. It was from this form that we obtained the information. Silvania is afraid that we will continue to charge her for the monthly online subscription, which she cancelled in Sept. Looking at her account, there is no indication that she has been billed for anything other than the SAT and ACT preparation software that she purchased in July. Hopefully this will help Silvania and others with concerns in regards to The College Prep Center. Thank you.
