Let's see, oh yeah, the Elephant Group sells them customers like Dish Network. So if they give them your credit card number they get PAID for it. Blockbuster buys the customer from them, like Dish Network.

I called 1-866-755-9008. Had to get that number from Via Satellit. after many calls all over trying to find out about the fraudulent charges for member services (E-Club) and Blockbuster on line. I was CURSED at every time and I was very nice on the phone! They were sarcastic and said they would not cancel anything. I asked that my personal information not be sold and I was told I did not know what I was talking about. I never have had more rude calls that and would not suggest anyone calling customer service. If you have money to donate to them I am sure they will be sweet to you but after that it is like calling the Devil himself. I then called 1-877-728-7829 for Member Services to have to have it cancelled and they still charged and would not cancel. I was told I had to call Blockbuster to cancel, I did and they would not cancel my account. When I called I was never told how much I would be charged a month, never told when I would be charged. I was never told my information and credit card number would be given to Blockbuster on line. There is no taping of my complete understanding of the promotions. I was never given any information to be able to cancel these so called "promotions". I believe these are breaking telemarketer laws. I was just told I would get some free movies, NOT given a membership. How are these called promotions? For E-Club one just gets to be able to donate about $20 a month to the Elephant Group. Dish Network has their own maintance program that is free for the 18 month contract, (do have to pay taxes on it). Why would I want to pay for another one at $20 a month? If I have problems with the equipment I ship it back to Dish for free. The program is like Elephant Wireless, didn't take people long to see that was a scam and stop donating money. Blockbuster on line? One can go to their website and sign up and have all the info. there and they offer 2 week trial there. I have not rented a movie in 10 years, infact there wasn't even DVD's rented back then, I rented VHS movies. I would not want to pay almost $20 a month to rent when I do not rent movies! The Elephant Group does scam people, I was one of them and there are testimonies on this site of others! Stay away from flyers with the Elephant Group on them. Do not go to Satellitesales.com. (Owned by E-Club also known as the Elephant Group) What happened to the free tickets for flying? That was a scam (Another so called promotion to get more money out of one's pocket) Who all does the Elephant Group sale my personal info to and why do they not stop when I ask? And why does the Elephant Group call and hang up on me all the time. And why am I now getting all kinds of calls from other scum telemarketer groups? Thanks for giving my phone number to all of them.

I'm presently employed by The Elephant Group, and while the whole industry of telemarketing has a black eye, I would like people to understand that there are those trying to improve the image of their business and the industry as a whole. "Rhonda", "Sandy", "Mindy", "Buffy", or "Mandy", or whatever you wish to be called here: From some of your statements here it's apparent you are a recently terminated employee. Unfortunately you littered your "complaint" with many misstatements from either spite, ignorance, or both. DISH Network's new promotion began 08/15, which does include HBO and Cinemax free for 3 months. And, yes they do show this charge clearly on your first bill....just as clearly as they show the credit they issue for them. The old promotion expired when the new one took effect; there's nothing our company can do to get a customer the old promo. If a customer orders Starz and keeps it for 3 months there is a rebate offer for a $40 gift card.......the link is provided on the DISH Network web site. There are a number of promotions and packages that we offer. And yes, we do it to make more profit. The movie theater wants you to buy candy, popcorn, and a soda also. A car dealer will tell a customer about their alarms, paint protection, etc. too. I agree it can be daunting, but that's how companies stay in business. That's not a bait and switch. The Sales reps are constantly monitored to track their performance. And this, my dear "Rhobda", (as shown on the top of your complaint) led to your demise. We can't afford to have an employee work here that doesn't give complete disclosures on every sale. You were caught misleading the customers repeatedly; you were warned both verbally and in writing to stop. You didn't so you were terminated. We are taking steps to keep our sales clean and your exit from this company is an example of this. If you are a customer and wish to contact our company about a problem you can call 1-877-822-2418 for customer service. The number that was listed is a New Jersey Sales Rep callback number......something an employee gives the customer to use to make a sale. I can only urge customers who feel wronged to pursue their issues in a logical manner by contacting the company and trying to resolve the problem/problems with them. If that doesn't help get a consumer advocate agency to intervene. Many issues originate from a simple misunderstanding and can be made right. Companies that do scam customers deserve to be closed and time usually shows us that is exactly what happens.
