Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I had a marina slip at the harbor inn and marina in stuart, FL for a little over a year. When I sold my boat I told the harbor master Scott that I would be canceling my slip. I had a one year contract which I completely fulfilled and did not sign a new contract so I was under no obligation to continue renting the slip.

I gave 30 days notice that I would no longer need the boat slip to Scott and he said there were no problems and my 1 months Deposit on the slip would be refunded right away. About a month after not receiving my refund I started to call every few days or so and every time I was told the "Corporate Office" (which I don't think exists) would get back to me.

No one ever returned my calls and eventually after constantly calling, the girl who answered(I think she is the owners wife) stated that they would not be giving me a refund because I did not give them enough notice and that Scott was no longer working there to verify that I did give notice. I

did give the then Harbor master Scott 30 days notice and in addition I was not under a contract so no notice would be required anyway.

I get the feeling that they do this quite often and I don't want anyone else to get scammed by the harbor inn and marina in stuart fl.

Perhaps the CORRECT thing to do would have been to read the contract YOU signed and follow the appropriate cancellation process. Sorry to say this but "Just Telling" an employee is NOT a 100% in getting that cancelled. If YOU JUST told an employee and DID NOT follow the cancellation process as outlined in the CONTRACT that you signed then they are correct in keeping the deposit and what THEY are doing IS NOT A RIPOFF!!!! So because YOU didn't follow the terms of the contract MAGICALLY they are the bad guys. At what point do YOU take responsibility for YOUR actions?? I mean OBVIOUSLY you have enough money to throw into a hole in the water but NOT enough brains to cancel a contract correctly? Sounds fishy to me. Sounds LESS like YOU are being ripped off and MORE like YOU are mad that THEY are holding to the terms of the contract YOU SIGNED in good faith. I guess EVERYONE gets to see what YOU consider to be "Good Faith".

I Guess you can not read well, My contract term had passed and I did not sign a new contract and the contract terms if I had a contract state to contact the harbor master within 30 days, which I also did. I followed the contract terms and they still did not refund my money, they wouldn't be a scam otherwise genius.
