I am a contractor who did work on the personal home of Scott Savastano. He claims to be the real estate developer of The Pond in Montville, NJ. Scott Savastano is a low life rip off artist who after I completed all my work at his house, refused to pay me. He gave bogus reasons why he wouldn't pay me. I found out that he did this with others who on his house. This is how he does business with contractors like me. Scott Savastano is a bad guy. After I started to have problems with him I checked him out and found out that he has a track record of being accessed of fraud, see below. I probably will not get paid and it is difficult for a guy like me during these times especially. My advise is to stay away from this creep.
Check out this link where he got caught and sued for securities fraud in federal court. He lied to his companies board (New Vest Capital), he lied to me and other contractors and he will lie to you. Scott Savastano is pond scum. Page 623 URL: www.abanet.org/buslaw/corporateresponsibility/clearinghouse/02spring/07/chapter19.pdf

i'm a contractor from bergen county and was refered to mr savastano from the architects beer and coleman.although i did not do any work for him,i found mr savastano rude and disrespectful to both myself and my associates. he called us to put a bid on a pool.before we even got out our protfolio he was telling how rich he was and how he could "bury" anyone of the people in his development financially.he spent the next 45 minutes giving a house tour and telling us how expensive everything was.when we finally got to the actual topic of pool he was telling us what he wanted to pay us.we explained that we where a high end company that does custom landscaping and pools and that if he was looking for a cheap job we weren't the company for him.he laughed and said he could get any "wetback porkchop" to build him a pool.At that point we decided to conclude our meeting. On our way out there was a contractor van parked out side with two men taking pictures.I didn't think much of it until the contractor contractor said "hey..are your going to do work for that scumbag?" I told him "no ...because our meeting didn't go that wel"l.the contractor said "well..that's a good thing..because he beat me and about 5 other guys out of money".when I got back in our truck mr savatano got on the phone with me and started getting angry.he was accusing us of trying to get information for the contractor that was outside taking pictures.I laughed and assured him that I never met this contractor, and that his accusations where ridiculous. He then said " don't ever come to my house again or he'll have me arrested".i don't usually encounter rude people who are this wealthy...but this is a first.I spoke to the architect on the following monday and he just said "yeah..the guy is a little different".so that is my experience with mr savastano.i would encourage any contractors to screen mr savastano on the phone to see what his true intentions are before having your time, and integrity compromised.

I am the architect of record for the Savastano residence in Montville,NJ.
I was just alerted to this Rip-off Report .After reading it I felt compelled to respond.
I was lucky enough to be involved in the " Pond Sub-division as one of the architects.
I designed seven of the homes at this development of which one was the Savastano's.
I was involved during the construction and I was at the site weekly to assist with interviewing subcontractors and reviewing their work for approval to be paid.
During the entire building process I had found Scott Savastano to be a very fair and
honest person who exhibited great integrity and character.
A big part of my job during construction was to insure that quality
subcontractors and materials were being used. Mr Savastano was not a builder nor
did he have any experience in building a custom home.
It was a lot of hard work on his part and I feel that he completed the house in a extremely professional manner! I was thoroughly involved in approving the payments to the subcontractors and I know of no one who completed there work correctly on this
job that was not paid!! As in all jobs poor performance or lack of performance by a subcontractor is not the fault of the owner.
