Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Recently moved to Republic, Mo from KC, KS wanting to lease a home for 1-2 years while we develop some farm land we bought in SW Missouri. Leased a home marketed by The Real Estate Company and leased to us through Greenleaf (which is appears to be the same company). Within a few weeks of moving in we discovered by chance the house might be in foreclosure. Then a week of being given the runaround from Greenleaf and The Real Estate Company trying to find out status I finally got them to admitt the circumstances. The house not only is in foreclosure but I found out today (11/18/08) that is will be foreclosed on 11/25/08one week. We have only been in the home for 33 days so it seems impossible they weren't aware they rented us a house in foreclosure.

Beware of this company. We have heard many stories of people with similar circumstances renting and even worse from those unfortunate enough to purchase from them. We're out significant dollars not to mention having to move a fully furnished 4 bedroom house with kids, dog etc twice in such a short time.

Very upset not sure what we'll do now.

Greenleaf Investor.... Another side to the story..

Ben, I posted this under another posting as well but just wanted to make sure you read this.. Patrick, I read your complaint and sympathize with your situation. Let me share with you another side to this issue. My wife and I are Investors of Greenleaf and have been since January of 2008. We were approached with a win-win scenario. If we would put up our credit to buy a home, Greenleaf would be able to build it, lease it to a tenant with the hopes of restoring their credit and then ultimately buy the property that they have been living in during this restoration time. Greenleaf promised to pay the investor (me) the monthly payment before its due each month and I would in turn send this to the lender. Greenleaf would have 3 years to get a qualified investor and after this time (or when they had a qualified investor), the property would be deeded over from my wife and me to the homeowner and we would be paid a cash sum for our efforts. What a great idea. We could use our good credit to earn some passive income and at the same time, help someone get the home of his or her dreams. Enter April, 2008, the last month Greenleaf paid us our monthly payments. Greenleaf ran into financial trouble and could no longer make payments each month to the investors. Now, investors were left with two choices. First, they could not make the monthly payment to the lender and in which case lose their good credit and ultimately the home goes into foreclosure. Or.. the investor could continue to make the payments in good faith with no return on their investment. Which path do you think most investors were forced to take? My wife and I are different. We are where we are today because we make all of our payments on time. We are very proud of our good credit scores and have gone to great lengths to keep them high. In September, we took back one of the properties from Greenleaf that was occupied. We notified the tenant that they need to pay us directly and that we would honor the 30 year loan that Greenleaf promised and even help in anyway we could for them to take over the note directly. I am proud to say that a tenant is faithfully making payments directly to us and hopefully soon will be able to own a home because we did the right thing. Now we have a second property in Branson, Missouri that is not occupied. We have paid our mortgage payment faithfully each month and refuse to lose the home to foreclosure. If you or any other person out there are interested in a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bath ranch style home with a walkout basement, in ground sprinkler system, located on over 1 acre of land, please feel free to contact me. We would love to work directly with a homebuyer and keep Greenleaf out of it. You see, not everyone associated with Greenleaf has bad intensions. Please feel free to email me if you are looking for more information on the home. Thank you, Mark

I notice someone has posted about a class action lawsuit on Craigslist/Springfield. I hope many of you can come together to do something about this... Very aggravating, to say the least. And...definitely very slimy for them to do this to innocent people, knowing that these homes were in foreclosure before they leased them. I do hope you have many people contacting you to help. The attorney general needs to really look hard and heavy into this case. This is criminal to me! Good luck! Wish you the best!
