The Window And Door Store fails to honor warranty for defective windows... won't return phone calls, no possible excuse for their piss-poor customer service Commerce Township Michigan
I recently moved into an older home in which the previous homeowner had replacement windows installed. I managed to find a warranty card that the previous owner left behind. A company called 'The Window and Door Store' ordered and installed the windows for that owner. I'm not sure of the make of windows but they're white insulated vinyl windows. Two windows developed a seal failure and have moisture in them (one window has about 1/2 inch of water at the bottom in between the panes of glass). I notified The Window and Door Store in August 2004 and was immediately put through to the owner, Bob.
After they confirmed they did in fact do the work (Bob even told me he remembered doing the job) to my house, I was told by Bob that he would be out to measure the windows and that getting replacement glass to fix the windows wouldn't be a problem.
After Bob came out to my house to measure both problem windows, he stated that the company they got my windows from went out of business (what a surprise!) and that another company took over manufacturing the same window. He said he could submit the claim with the company for glass replacements. He said he would get back with me when he heard from the company.
After two weeks of waiting, I called Bob. This is when the run-around began. I would wait long periods of time between phoning Bob, and when someone would answer, I got the usual "I'll have him call you back". I NEVER received ANY phone calls from this company to date. THEY NEVER HAD ANY INTENTIONS OF FIXING MY WINDOWS.
So, now I'm stuck with water in my windows. I guess they aren't willing to stand behind the product they sell and refuse to honor warranty work (which, again, I was told it would be taken care of).
If you're in southeast Michigan DO NOT do business with this so-called company. Regardless of any rebuttal which could follow...there's no possible excuse for their piss-poor customer service (thanks Rosie the secretary!) and absolute failure to handle a warranty claim.
