We purchased a boat from Tom Bawsel/Bawsal on eBay. After payment, Mr. Bawsel immediately took down his ad and closed his eBay account. Then we were having problems obtaining the boat from Mr. Bawsel and contacted eBay buyer protection to intervene on our behalf. It took us a few months to get the boat and when we did it was nothing like it was described. When the transportation service arrived to get the boat, it was sitting out in the middle of a field instead of being inside as it was stated to be. It was obvious the boat had never been stored inside. The interior was torn apart, pieces were missing, it wasn't on a trailer and there was no leg on it. The service had to wait two days (and an extra $500) for the leg to be put on and when the men gave them the boat (Mr. Bawsel was not there) the trailer had four flat tires that had to be pumped up every five hours all the way from Florida to California. The motor was completely different then the motor advertised - it was clear from the pictures in the ad. Wires were hanging inside the boat and the motor would not turn over. Aside from the flat tires, the trailer had no plates or registration. It also was not the trailer advertised, obvious because it had no brakes. No paperwork was included with the boat - title, transfer papers, registration, nothing. Again, eBay Buyer protection intervened and got us a title, but it was not in Mr. Bawsel's name. We are currently getting quotes for what it will take to fix the boat for it to match the description in the ad, but it will cost almost as much as we paid for the boat. eBay Buyer Protection will only cover the engine and none of the other items that were not as described.

This is basically an answer to this ridiculous report from a person that bought a boat in southern florida & had motorcycle delivery service to drag the boat over 3000 miles across country behind their truck. Thanks goodness pictures were taken of the boat before it left Florida & there were numerous people as witnesses of how wonderful this restored boat was before it left on evidently the trip from hell across country. I will try to answer these acusations as well as I can and although most are completely untrue, most are from untrue statements made to the buyer from the delivery truck that was trying to stay out of trouble since so much happened to the boat while in their hands.

Ok here goes. Boat was purchased from me on ebay. We did not take down ad or account. The buyer cancelled his deposit afternot being able to get in touch with us from 10 am to 2 pm on 1 day. He wanted the boat shipped without paying the deposit & we of course would not do that. After the deposit was reinstated by the customer & ebay, the boat was ready for pickup & it was definitely not months & the hold up was completely & totally the buyers responsibility. ALthough it is true that when the motorcycle delivery service arrived to pick up the boat, the outdrive was not on the boat, they waited for 2 hours not 2 days for a rebuilt leg to go on. Although the outdrive had been fine, it was noticed by the boat repair facility that there was a leak coming from the bottom of the drive only a few days before the boat was to be picked up. The outdrive was fine when the boat was listed & sold. We had the leg taken off & sent to the best merc outdrive mechanic in this part of the country and had it redone at our expense to be sure the buyer would not be bothered by it in California with it. Our state does not offer registration or licience plates for boat trailers, so that is why no tag on the boat trailer. Although the boat was on a trailer, & not in a field but in a boat repair facility. This boat had just gone thru a restoration which cost about double what the buyer was lucky enough to get the boat for. The boats interior was basically new & in absolutely great shape, but something must have happened on that wild trip. Once again we do have pics of the boat the day it left for California & it was fantastic. The trailer had no flat tires & although it was offered to be sure they were full before the trailer left, the pickup driver said no problem, he would put air in down the road if need be. The motor was exactly the same as in the pictures & ran beautifully in Florida, the Merc aircleaner cap was not on the boat but was sent to the buyer with a full cover for the boat after it arrived in california. Although the wires were hanging from behind the dash when we got the boat & showed in 1  picture that was on ebay, those wires were attended to and were not hanging when the boat  left Florida. The paperwork was not sent with the boat as a pre-cauton but was sent afterwards.

The only thing that I do agree with, on these complaints, is it is true that we offered the buyer a choice on trailers for the boat. One was aluminum & 1 was a painted steel. I did accidently stated that the aluminum trailer had the brakes & I was wrong, the brakes were on the steel trailer. The boat was a 1988 and the trailer would cost around 1500 used for either trailer, we offered the buyer what an add on brake set cost for this trailer, which is $500 & he refused saying it would cost an extra $3000 for brakes. basically you can buy a new trailer for $3000 so that again was ridiculous.

Sorry to be so long winded but this complaint has been on one or two other sites & it was removed because of the untruths, so I wanted at least to try & set the record straight.
