I purchased a black female shih tzu from Mr. Logan back in Apr. of 2005,

First I found out @ 6 months old that she has distichia (eye condition) that is heriditary, I called Mr. Logan and he informs me that he has never had any of his dogs with this condition and told me not to worry about it, even though my vet had told me not to breed this dog. I decided to pay out of my own pocket to have the dogs eye surgically repaired and was going to have 1 litter of pups to see if the problem came up in her puppies

At 8 months old I noticed her not to be gaining any weight and was very frail for her age, so I explained my concerns to my vet and she suggested to do a blood workup, which showed her protein level to be way off. She then suggested to do a bile acid count and it came back with a diagnois of a liver shunt. At that time she told me that the dog was definately not breedable and that I should contact the breeder.

When I contacted Mr Logan he was very nasty about everything, he told me the dog was mine and basically that he was not going to do anything. When I asked him what to do with her, he told me that he would not accept her back. THis breeder does not deserve to be breeding this beautiful breed. He is just a money hungry person and does not a thing about the breed. He is supposed to be a AKC show breeder and supposedly has wonderful dogs.

My advice is do not buy a puppy from him, he is a liar, cheat and a thief and does not give any guarantee, so that he does not have to replace his sick dogs. When you see his name, RUN, DON'T WALK. You will get a sick dog that is the most nasty kennel raised dog you could possibly find.

The HSUS is not a law enforcement agency, nor a legal firm, but rather an organization dedicated to using its resources to help advance the cause of animal welfare across the globe. Due to the large volume of breeder complaints received by The HSUS on a daily basis, we cannot guarantee a response within a certain time period, although every effort will be made. In most cases we will be in touch should we require additional information. Everyone who bought a puppy from 'HOME RAISED DOGS' When their are over 100 dogs on their property and also I have noted the same dogs of certain breed being passed from across the united states to breed and breed for greed..I am writing the HSUS and see what we as persons against website breeders, commercial breeders etc. I will volunteer my time to stop puppymillers if you would like to join in either financial or like me volunteer contact these wonderful persons who love animals.and dislike puppymillers. Also write congress ..They will take action when we the public does If the HSUS has daily reports of puppymillers then we have a problem and together we can rectify it. I also bred 4 times and feel awful though they went to loving spay/nuetered homes there is so many unwanted dogs I will NEVER sleep with peace knowing I bred a over-populated breed even if mine are ch. does not need more puppies when one web site alone has 25 puppies for sale not including the web sites who broker web site pro;s who are not bettering the breed but downsizing breed all the while dwn sizing their organs..as I started I have 4 shih-tzus all non-producing adults but producing my family lots of love and isn't that what all animals and humans want? to be loved, never used, wanted but not for what we can give but what we bring to this life non monies, What if you was born to your parents only to be pregnant at 7 years old 1 yr doggie years and locked in a room only to produce babies then after you have 8 to 10 children with no knowledge of the world are abondoned and dropped off to fend for yourself. GET A CLUE IF a breeder BREEDS over 2 litters per yr. hello red flag USE THIS FORM PLEASE IF YOU KNOW OF ABUSIVE BREEDER

Just because you had a bad experience with one so called show breeder dosent mean ALL show breeders are bad or unethical!!!

Hi I just wanted to say your OPINION of all show breeders being dishonest & unethical is very untrue. Just because you had a bad & unresolved experience with Southwyck does not mean ALL show kennels are going to screw someone over. I know from personal experience that most show breeders deeply care about their dogs & are very much so concerned with what they are producing in their lines as far as health problems & traits that are undesirable to the breed. They spend ALOT of money on their breeding stock to ashure quality in their future puppies & to prevent the qualities that make the breed so special from being lost forever due to POOR breeding of dogs that dont even resemble a Shih Tzu anymore. You dont just buy 2 cheap dogs from the paper & decide I will throw these together & have some Shih Tzu's. Champion line dogs are bred for the best qualities. Pretty dark eyes, nice flat faces, & beautiful thick coats. I have seen so many puppies that dont even look ANYTHING like a shih tzu anymore like the long snouted ones on puppyfind. It's enough to make one sick to think that people are actually fooled into thinking they are Shih Tzu. AKC papers or not, they are NOT Shih Tzu. I do not know the full situation here & dont care to get involved but I DO give a 3 year health guarantee on my puppies as well as support for a lifetime on any puppy I bring into this world as any truely ethical breeder should do. I am sorry for your loss but I dont know of anyone who has never had a negative experience with someone, you just have to learn a painful lesson & make sure you get a good health guarantee from a reputable breeder in the future. A reputable breeder knows their dogs, knows the lines that run behind their dogs & if the worst happens they should stand behing thier word & do the right thing. Ask for vet references, also ask for positive customer feedback & get your health guarantee in writing. I take all my pups for vet checks before they ever leave my home. Make sure the breeder you choose is one you feel comfortable with & will take the time to adress your concerns or any questions you may have before you ever decide to do buisness with them & for God sakes the "Shih Tzu's" with the 3 inch long snouts are NOT purebreeds. A well bred Shih Tzu should have a nose no longer than your thumbnail!!! EYE WHITE is also a BIG fault so dont get taken there either Sincerely Jody Ingram (((ROR redacted))) CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

MY OPINION

#5Author of original report

Fri, February 03, 2006

The above comments are my opinion, but if you would like to see the evidence (vet letter, lab results) on the dog mentioned above, my website will be up in a couple of months, the name will be Classy Paws Shih Tzu, and it will be posted in the shih tzu breeders directories. I will have all that info posted on it. It is not my intent to tell someone not to purchase a dog from Southyck Kennel (Tommy Logan) but at least you can make your own decision based on my dealings with him. I have been honest and have tried effortlessly to solve this with Mr Logan, but he has refused every attempt.

LOW LIFE BREEDER

#6Author of original report

Mr Logan has paid off his attorney as I have been told by someone that he has made the comment that he did so to take care of me and anyone else that causes him problems. My attorney has told me that the state of Tennessee does not really have a small claims and does not have a pet lemon law and to pursue this would require putting out a lot more money than what we have already put out, so we have decided to swallow our losses on this one and learn a valuable lesson. My advice to ANYONE is not to make this fool any richer than he already is, you more than likely will not get what you pay for and he will do nothing to make the sale good. I soon will have a website up, look for it in the shih tzu breeders sites. It will be called Classy Paws Shih Tzu, all evidence from my experience with this loser will be on there. I am also reporting him to the IC3 for internet crime. Don't buy a dog from anyone that does not give a written guarantee (he does not) He is a show breeder and most vets will tell you they are the worst you could deal with.

WE HAVE BEGUN LEGAL ACTION

#7Author of original report

Tue, December 06, 2005

Since Mr Logan has chosen to be a total idiot and not work with us on this, we have begun legal action. This has gone on way to long and he has chosen his own fate. He is a perfect example of what show breeders are, these people think they are gods and can do what they wan, to whomever they want. I have been told by other reputable breeders and vets as well that most of them are the worst you could ever buy a dog from, I have found that to be true in most cases, but have found a few honest ones that are very kind and understanding, this is a learn as you go, you just have to do your homework. Mr Logan is one I for sure would avoid at all cost. I have now purchased 2 dogs that have his lines and both of them were defective, and I have vet confirmation that they are.
