I wish I would have done my research prior to investing in merchandise to sell on Tophatter.  Hopefully this post reaches someone else in time to save them the money and frustration that comes with trying to sell on Tophatter. Really, all it would have taken to deter me was a simple google search.  Man, how I wish I would have googled "Tophatter!"  (Here's your clue to google Tophatter.....and while you're at it, look at their BBB record!

I could go on forever, and truthfully, I am so exhausted and depressed from what these people have  put me through that I can't even adequately discribe it.  I will say this....AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.  Do a little research and the owner of Tophatter first operated Blippy.com.  They announced their close and announced Heartsy right after.  (Both companies bankrupt and pissed off customers.)  So then Ashvin Kumar launches Tophatter.  Again, successfully creates an outrage among paying customers.  Well, well, well....looks like Ashvin is making another big change because as of 12/13/13, he listed himself as the CEO of Blipify.

People need to learn they are being scammed.  Start a business, bankrupt it, and earn 17+M per year and leave people like me who are honest and hard working high and dry the second we question the Tophatter policies, or lack thereof.

A word of advice:  Save yourself the time and trouble.  Stay away from Top Hatter!

Tophatter treats sellers like trash ??

I am not an employee of Tophatter but I have been a seller on Tophatter for atleast 2 years. Some facts I can tell you are the fees are too high and Tophatter has so many rules that it makes it nearly impossible to be a consistant seller and get to sell every day. One little negative remark from a buyer and the seller is bumped down and does not get to sell for days on end until Tophatter "investigates the feedback". We are automatically found guilty until proven innocent.

Tophatter is for the buyer not the seller because they are all about money. Sellers hardly make anything but Tophatter is getting rich off the fees. Tophatter has a new credit card payment system which makes it great for the buyer but as for the seller, we have to wait 3 business days to receive our money but we are expected to ship the items right away and if we do not, we have to put up with complaints from the buyers and negative feedback which makes us unable to sell items as I mentioned before. Tophatter does not care about the sellers needs so yes, we do get treated like trash.

Please stop making Tophatter rich. There is a new live online auction called raiseyourpaddlez.com and they do not have all the stupid rules and they care about the sellers but this website is brand new and not many people know about it. It could be so much greater than Tophatter. Please help spread the word on Facebook and through emails and tell your friends about it.

I sat and read these complaints about Tophatter and couldn't agree more.

I really don't need to state much here expect for try Googling Tophatter and read ALL the reviews from people who have experienced their fair share of Tophatter. I was a seller on Tophatter for 7 months yes it starts out nice until they decide if you are worth getting scheduled into their auctions or not. Their fees are high and their customer service his horrible. This is by FAR the WORST site for trying to grow your online business. Do NOT get taken into their scams. I did not catch it at first but when I saw all the FAKE items from aliexpress constantly appearing in every auction day and night I began to check out this company. I have been selling on eBay for about 10 years and my items are true to the description. I don't buy FAKE items and try to pass them off as real. Tophatter does NOT care about the sellers, As long as the money is coming in they do NOTHING. Once I questioned what was going on my ability to sell during the day was KILLED. I was limited to 11pm listing until 7am nothing more. My standards and items are not worthy of being on Tophatter and I emailed over 4,000 buyers and let them know I will be moving my items over to a new live auction site. I have investigated this site and look forward to growing my business. Save yourself the effort and READ the reviews from MANY people FIRST. Everyone cannot be telling a lie!

This company WILL go down because they do not know the meaning of HUMAN customer service. Each and every person that works there is full of CRAP. Never get a straight answer. I will make sure I spread the word around about Tophatter. Do NOT sell on their site. Do NOT buy on their site.

I once was a high level buyer,  however Tophatter made it clear by their actions that it was not a safe forum for me to buy in.  I should have learned from the first incident,  but believed in giving chances.  I had purchased an item from a Canadian buyer who even provided a tracking number as proof of mailing.  However, the item was never received and the tracking number proved the item was never dropped at the post office.  The seller refused to respond and it was only when I open a paypal dispute that she responded and promised to send my money back.  However, after a week she still would not refund my money.  A quick call to paypal resulted in them forcing a refund by the seller after they too saw that the item was never received at the post office.  I filed a dispute at tophatter as well and they stated the seller would be banned.  However, she lied and provided a fake paypal slip that said she refunded the money on her own so they allowed her back on.   I provided the acutally paypal transaction ID numbers to prove she lied to them and the money had to be forced back to me.  The consesus by tophatter was all the matter was I was refunded so no penalty would be given to the seller. Thus, they were indicating it was OK for her to attempt to rip people off and still sell as long as all worked out in the end.

As I stated,  I should have learned from the first incident because I ran into 5 other bad deals within three months in which two would not send my items.  One seller attempted to rip off several people thus they were banned and the other seller provided an old tracking number to an address which was not mine so they were kicked off as well.  ONe would think that would be good except for I came across three other sellers who provided information that they shipped my item within the first week time frame they told tophatter but after a month I still had no item.   When reported these sellers were still permitted to continue to sell in the "Community Auctions" and their punishment was to not be able to sell in the "Featured Auctions".   However, when I pointed out that it was the Community Auctions that I purchased my items in and that is were those sellers sold it only fell upon deaf ears.

Due to no help from tophatter,  I took my issues to the Community Boards for help.  It was then that I was banned from posting on the Community Boards for "Being Negative".  At that time I realized Tophatter had a lot of problems that they wanted to hide from the public and would continue to allow such bad sellers on,  so I left.  I would not recommend anyone ever buy or sell there because eventually it ends badly.

This is the most screwed up company ever. The treat their sells like trash. The sell on the site and cancel orders that go for too low in price. The employees are unbelieveably unprofessional. One of the founders regularly posts on the forum and his replies are tantrums of a 5 year old child.  The feedback system they used is comical. They knowing let scammer sellers sell PLATED fake stamped china .925 as solid sterling silver.

Take the OP's advice. Stay away from this place. Don't sell or buy on there.. If you aren't restricted as a seller by tophatter you will be because buyers are scammers there and very quick to leave negatives!
